About the Role


As a Sr Ops Analyst, NZ Pymts Serv  you will be responsible for manage and resolve complex domestic and cross-border payment investigations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. Strengthen reconciliation, reduce exceptions, and improve processes by collaborating with internal teams and banking partners, while maintaining high-quality standards and minimizing operational risk.

The role also contributes to operational stability by analysing recurring failures, identifying systemic issues, recommending process improvements, and supporting junior team members through guidance and expertise. Its purpose is to uphold high investigation quality standards, minimise operational risk, and enhance customer and stakeholder experience within defined service levels.

What will your day look like?


As a Sr Ops Analyst, NZ Pymts Serv, you will:

  • Investigate and resolve complex failed, delayed, high‑value, or misrouted payments within defined service levels.
  • Analyse transaction data to identify root causes of discrepancies and document findings clearly.
  • Ensure all investigations comply with internal policies, audit standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead investigations involving multi‑jurisdictional cases or escalated discrepancies.
  • Own and manage payment escalations to ensure timely, effective resolution with minimal business impact.
  • Identify recurring issues, analyse patterns, and recommend corrective actions to reduce future failures.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend automation or efficiency improvements to strengthen operational performance.
  • Support management with data‑driven inputs related to costs, exceptions, and operational performance.
  • Deliver high‑quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Meet quality, accuracy, and SLA targets consistently across investigations and escalations.

 

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Have 3–4 years of hands‑on experience with SWIFT (including ISO 20022), payment platforms, payment methods, and payment/message types.
  • Understand domestic and international payment networks such as SWIFT, HVCS, RTGS, NEFT, and related clearing systems.
  • Use applications such as PEGA PRS, PIC AU/NZ, FMM, FMP, TLM RP, GPP AU/NZ, AU066, Systematics, and MIDANZ confidently; handle SWIFT enquiries, non‑value messages, AUD clearing, and multiple payment modes.
  • Know financial regulations including AML, KYC, OFAC, sanctions screening, and data‑privacy requirements.
  • Guide junior analysts by reviewing case quality and providing technical direction.
  • Apply prior experience resolving payment issues within banking or financial services, including escalated or high‑risk cases.
  • Prioritize workload effectively and resolve cases within defined service levels.
  • Support internal audits and adhere to regulatory or reporting standards when required.
  • Take initiative to identify process or service improvements and present solution recommendations with clear benefits.
