About the Role
The Senior Manager, Control Testing & QA leads to the strengthening of first line control testing and QA capability, maturity, and consistency across a defined business area or portfolio. The role provides delivery leadership at scale, ensuring testing is risk‑based, methodologically sound, well‑governed, and delivers meaningful insight into control effectiveness and non‑compliance.
Operating with significant autonomy, the Senior Manager partners closely with senior stakeholders, risk specialists to influence how risks and controls are understood and managed.

What will your day look like?
As a Senior Manager, Control Testing & QA you will:
- Lead the uplift and continuous improvement of control testing methodologies, templates, and quality standards.
- Define and maintain testing quality benchmarks, documentation expectations, and review practices.
- Sponsor targeted enhancements to testing approaches, including data‑led techniques and automation opportunities, ensuring changes are governed and scalable.
- Ensure consistent application of approved methodologies and tools across teams and portfolios.
- Oversee the synthesis of testing outcomes into clear, prioritized insights that articulate risk exposure, control effectiveness, and thematic issues.
- Ensure material control weaknesses, systemic issues, or non‑compliance risks are escalated appropriately and transparently through governance pathways.
- Contribute to governance packs, assurance reporting, and senior forums with high‑quality insights and informed challenge.
- Support effective monitoring of remediation progress, providing oversight and challenge where evidence of sustainable closure is insufficient.
- Contribute to development and effective delivery of assurance framework and deep dives, including operating practices, in line with industry best practice principals in ANZ.
- Manage the delivery of assurance activity testing effective implementation of, and adherence to policy and process, driven by both external e.g. legislation, and internal e.g. risk appetite factors and associated policy change, to support management of risks, obligations and attestations.
- Support the design and influence prioritization of targeted deep dives based on potential risk or assurance need i.e. specific industry, staff member, team, process or policy.
- Contribute to reporting of risk issues (not limited to BAU testing) through assurance activity and business engagement and ensure that these are reported in line with ANZ Risk Frameworks, and to appropriate stakeholders with value-add insights.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Strong understanding of risk and control frameworks, including control taxonomies and enterprise risk standards.
- Knowledge of regulatory obligations relevant to conduct, compliance, and operational risk.
- Awareness of business processes, control design principles, and first‑line risk responsibilities.
- Analytical capability to interpret data, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Ability to assess control adequacy and effectiveness, including root‑cause analysis and evidence evaluation.
- Experience delivering control testing, quality assurance, or risk assessment activities in a regulated environment.
- Demonstrated involvement in analysing business processes and identifying control gaps or compliance issues.
- Understanding of emerging regulatory trends, industry risk themes, and broader assurance practices (2LOD/3LOD).
- Familiarity with data visualisation and analytics tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Experience contributing to testing methodology enhancements, process optimisation, or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Background using structured problem‑solving or improvement disciplines (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, incident/root‑cause techniques).
- Tertiary qualifications in business, risk, finance, IT, or related fields are highly regarded.
- Desirable: Professional certifications in risk management, control testing, compliance, or data analytics.
