About the Role

 

 

Financial Crime Threat Management (FCTM) strives to protect our business and communities against financial crime threats. FCTM utilise customer data and intelligence to detect, investigate and escalate potentially suspicious activity such as money laundering, financing of terrorism, and activity involving sanctioned parties. FCTM specialists work within the Financial Crime Portfolio to support businesses across the group in complying with financial crime regulatory obligations.

 

As a Senior Analyst, Risk Assessment, you will be supporting the effective operation and continuous enhancement of ANZ’s Financial Crime Risk Assessment framework in alignment with AML/CTF policy and regulatory requirements. 

 
The role is responsible for supporting the ongoing maintenance of enterprise-wide, country, product, channel, and third-party risk assessments, ensuring methodologies are fit-for-purpose and aligned with ANZ’s risk appetite, along with providing subject matter expertise to support the implementation of customer risk assessment tools. 
 
It will also involve driving quality assurance and governance activities and collaborating closely with stakeholders to identify and implement improvements across the risk assessment lifecycle.

 

Effective working relationships with FCTM teams, Financial Crime Governance, Regulatory and Advisory teams as well as Business stakeholders is essential.

What will your day look like?

 

As a Financial Crime Specialist, you will be accountable for:

 

  • Support the development and maintenance of Risk Assessment (RA) framework and methodology, to assess internal and external risk factors which impact ANZ’s financial crime control environment. This includes assessing if related risk assessment tools supporting RA Framework and methodology are aligned to ANZ risk appetite and perform periodic/trigger reviews of RA framework and methodology to identify if changes/updates are required to align with AML/CTF & Sanctions program
  • Support ongoing maintenance and continual enhancement of key risk assessment methodology and tools supporting ANZ Financial Crime Risk Assessments and ensure they are aligned to ANZ risk appetite and in line with Policy & Requirements. These include: EWRA / Country Risk Assessment,Product & Channel Risk Assessment & Third-Party Risk Assessment,Third Party Arrangements Risk Assessment,Jurisdiction Risk Assessment
  • Assist in the delivery and completion of the Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessments for ANZ (periodic and trigger)
  • Oversee and track completion of country AML/CTF & Sanctions Risk Assessment. Provide advice and support as required. Support the provision of risk theme insights to forums where required
  • Oversee and track completion of Product and Channel AML/CTF & Sanctions Risk Assessments. Provide advice and support as required. Support the provision of risk theme insights to forums where required
  • Assist in the monitoring of business unit and FCP risk profile across group, considering new and changing obligations, regulatory trends, regulator activities external threats or changes to market conditions
  • Assisting in provision of risk theme insights to the Head of Financial Crime Threat Management, FC Governance, Group General Manager Financial Crime and relevant governance forums as appropriate, that FC risk is effectively identified and managed
  • Ensure compliance with relevant internal and external compliance standards
  • Build collaborative relationships and actively manage key internal and external stakeholders to enable business and compliance objectives to be achieved.
  • Ensure ANZ's core values are always maintained in dealing with staff, colleagues and customers
  • Meet relevant FCP requirements globally

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Deep understanding of AML/CTF, sanctions and broader financial crime risks, including associated regulatory obligations
  • Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies
  • 3+ years of Financial Crime or Risk experience (background in banking preferable)
  • Strong data analysis and data mining aptitude
  • Ability to establish collaborative working relationships and build strong networks both internally and externally
  • Strong verbal, written, and numeracy communication skills with a proven ability to document business requirements
  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to synthesise complex data, intelligence and regulatory guidance into clear and actionable risk insights
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business, risk and technology functions to drive consistent outcomes
