About the Role
This role is focused on strengthening the Institutional Transaction Banking division's control environment by identifying opportunities to centrally monitor and assess controls at scale, driving optimal Non-Financial Risk (NFR) outcomes.
The incumbent will be responsible for supporting and executing the Control Self-Assessment (CSA) program in partnership with Control Owners across Institutional Transaction Banking. The CSA framework is applied across products, processes, and value chains within the First Line of Defence to evaluate control design and operating effectiveness using data-driven methodologies.
The role is responsible for identifying control gaps, non-compliance, and thematic risk issues, translating findings into clear, prioritized remediation actions and continuous improvement initiatives. A strong emphasis is placed on enhancing control design, automation, monitoring coverage, and governance practices while ensuring all activities align with enterprise risk standards and regulatory obligations.
Working closely with Control Owners, business stakeholders, and risk subject matter experts, the role will help strengthen the end-to-end control environment, foster a proactive risk culture, and drive sustainable, root-cause-focused remediation outcomes.

What will your day look like?
Lead and Deliver Risk-Based Control Monitoring, Testing, and Control Self-Assessment Activities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute risk-based control monitoring and testing activities across assigned products, processes, and value chains.
- Assess the design adequacy and operating effectiveness of controls using data-driven testing methodologies.
- Facilitate and formalize Control Self-Assessment (CSA) outcomes in partnership with accountable Control Owners.
- Ensure monitoring and testing activities are executed in accordance with enterprise risk standards, governance requirements, and regulatory expectations.
- Maintain high-quality documentation, evidence management, and audit-ready records to support assessment outcomes.
Translate Findings into Actionable Insights and Remediation
- Convert monitoring and testing outcomes into clear, concise, and prioritized insights that support effective decision-making and risk management.
- Identify, document, and escalate Non-Financial Risk issues in accordance with the Risk Management Framework.
- Leverage centralized reporting and analytics to identify emerging themes, trends, and areas requiring management attention.
- Drive improvements in control effectiveness through targeted remediation, automation opportunities, and process enhancements.
- Monitor remediation progress and support sustainable resolution of identified control weaknesses.
Strengthen Risk Capability and Control Ownership
- Partner with Control Owners, business leaders, and Second and Third Line stakeholders to strengthen understanding of Non-Financial Risk, controls, and monitoring expectations.
- Support the design and implementation of sustainable control improvements that reinforce accountability and strong control ownership.
- Promote a culture of proactive risk management and continuous improvement across business teams.
- Ensure monitoring and testing activities align with broader enterprise risk frameworks and regulatory obligations to maintain a consistent and well-governed control environment.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following
- 10+ years experience in Transaction Banking, with exposure to Non-Financial Risk, Operational Risk, Controls, Audit, Compliance, or Risk Management.
- Strong understanding of control testing, monitoring, and assessment methodologies, including design and operating effectiveness reviews.
- Knowledge of Non-Financial Risk frameworks, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices.
- Experience applying governance standards, documentation requirements, and evidence-based testing approaches.
- Ability to leverage data and analytics to support risk assessments, control monitoring, and decision-making.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills across business, risk, and control functions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to governance, documentation, and quality standards.
- Experience identifying opportunities to improve control effectiveness through process enhancement, analytics, or automation
- Exposure to regulatory change, remediation programs, and control uplift initiativesStrong analytical mindset with the ability to support forward-looking risk management
- Experience fostering risk awareness and embedding sound risk management practices within frontline business teams
