Regulatory & Event Management Data Lead
Role Location: Acacia, Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore
Role Type: permanent, Group 3
Role purpose:
The Regulatory & Event Management Data Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, timeliness, and compliance of regulatory data submissions and event investigations across the Retail division. This role oversees the delivery of Retail regulatory submissions, manages third-party data responses (e.g., Visa, Qantas, ATO), and leads the transformation of event investigation and sizing activities across the backlog of events in the Retail division.
This role will lead a multi-tiered team structure, directly managing Regulatory and Event Data Leads and providing strategic oversight for a broader team of 20+ data professionals. The successful candidate will be a seasoned data analytics leader with a proven track record in regulatory reporting submissions within Retail banking and event investigation.
This role is pivotal in:
- Embedding robust data governance and operational controls across Retail data processes.
- Driving continuous improvement to significantly reduce the time to identify and investigate events while uplifting quality and adopting risk-based approaches.
- Ensuring Retail data assets meet both internal and external regulatory expectations.
- Building a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration within the team to deliver high-quality outcome
What will your day look like?
Regulatory Submissions & Third-Party Reporting

Lead the end-to-end delivery of regulatory submissions and third-party reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with regulatory standards.

Develop and implement remediation plans to uplift the quality and compliance of submissions where gaps or risks are identified.

Partner with Retail Business, Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams to manage ad hoc regulatory requests, ensuring appropriate escalation and response protocols.
Event Management Transformation

Oversee the redesign and optimisation of event investigation and sizing processes across the Retail division.

Drive root cause analysis for high-impact customer events such as bereavement, complaints, and financial hardship.

Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to embed scalable, automated solutions for event tracking and remediation.
Data Governance & Operational Excellence

Embed data governance into operational processes, ensuring alignment with Data Management controls and standards, Records Retention & Disposal (RR&D), and Information Asset Security (IAS) policies.

Maintain a comprehensive inventory of regulatory data assets and lead ongoing risk assessments to evaluate control effectiveness.
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership

Act as a key liaison between Data, Business, Compliance, and Risk functions to ensure alignment and collaboration on regulatory data initiatives.

Lead change programs to uplift data quality, streamline reporting processes, and improve submission efficiency.

Partner with Business Owners to design and embed sustainable, repeatable processes for regulatory reporting.
What will you bring?
Must have’ knowledge, skills and experiences
- Proven Data Analytics / Data Management Leader with 16+ years of experience, including min 6+ years in senior data leadership and 3 + years in regulatory reporting roles.
- Adept at driving timely and accurate, governed regulatory reporting and responses and event investigations with a strong risk-oriented mindset and proven ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills across internal teams (Data, Risk, Legal, Business) and external regulators and partners to drive strategic outcomes.
- Experience embedding governance, data quality, data risk control frameworks and critical data lineage into data processes.
- Experience in driving event investigation, sizing and impact analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and contribute to the design, build and deployment of data solutions. This includes:
- Designing and implementing data products and reporting layers for regulatory submissions
- Managing end-to-end data lineage and transformation logic for submissions
- Collaborating with engineering teams to fast-track development in cloud and on-prem environments
- Leading workshops to capture SME inputs and accelerate design specifications

Skilled in redesigning and automating event investigation and sizing workflows to improve scalability and transparency

Familiarity with a variety of cloud and on-prem data platforms & tooling for building data products and reporting layers

Experience with cohort analysis, HIP dashboards, and uplift of data assets for tracking key moments in customer journeys

Understanding of MDM principles for customer, product, and account entities to support data integrity and reporting

Ability to lead transformation initiatives and advocate for data quality uplift across Retail.
