About the Role

 

The Associate Manager, Trade Controls, will support Global Markets across regions by overseeing trade validation, reconciliations, and trade surveillance activities. The role ensures accurate trade capture in Murex and Wall Street, validates all lifecycle events, and performs key reconciliations such as FOFO, BBSW, FOBO, and Murex vs. Sky. The individual will monitor surveillance alerts for Cancel & Amend, Backdated Trades, and Off Market Rate exceptions using TSS analytics, escalating high‑risk cases as needed. Responsibilities also include maintaining strong documentation, clearing queues within deadlines, and collaborating with FO, Risk, Compliance, TSS, and Operations to enhance control effectiveness. The role is expected to provide trend insights, identify process improvements, support audits/regulatory needs, and maintain effective stakeholder communication.

What will your day look like?


As an Associate Manager, Trade Control (Markets Middle Office Analyst), you will:

  • Have an understanding of trade capture and life cycle events, and investigate surveillance alerts related to Off Market Rate, C&A, and Back‑Dated trades accordingly.
  • Validate trade bookings across all lifecycle events (new, amend, cancel, terminate, novate, restructure) against FO evidence.
  • Perform daily controls including position/risk checks, P&L tolerance checks, duplicate checks, and block trade checks.
  • Manage FOFO, BBSW, FOBO, and Murex Sky reconciliations; resolve breaks and ensure accurate trade flow across systems.
  • Monitor Cancel & Amend, Back‑Dated, and Off Market Rate alerts; validate exceptions, obtain approvals, and escalate high‑risk cases.
  • Review booking patterns to identify conduct risk indicators, mispricing, or control gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain audit‑ready documentation, update procedures, and ensure queues are cleared before end of day.
  • Coordinate with FO, Risk, Compliance, and Technology on issue resolution, escalations, and process enhancements.
  • Provide trend analysis, MIS, and insights to stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Support BAU stability, onboarding, cross‑training, and continuous control uplift initiatives.

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:


  • Strong knowledge of Global Markets workflows, including FI and Derivative products, trade booking and lifecycle management, trade surveillance, data flows, key processes, confirmations, settlements, and reconciliations.
  • Excellent understanding of Operational Risk Management principles, reconciliations, and controls.
  • Previous hands-on experience with ANZ change methodologies.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and demonstrate effective communication skills.
