About the Role
The Automation Lead is responsible for leading and delivering end-to-end Finance Automation initiatives, ensuring the successful automation and simplification of finance processes. This role requires strong leadership, business acumen, and technical expertise to drive innovation and efficiency in the finance function through automation.

What will your day look like?
This role is accountable for:

Lead a Diverse Team: Manage and lead a team of automation engineers and data scientists to deliver automation solutions across finance operations.

End-to-End Accountability: Own the delivery of finance automation initiatives, from conceptualization to execution. Build strong relationships with business partners and technology teams, ensuring that finance automation and simplification requirements are met.

Strategic Influence: Influence senior leadership on the adoption of emerging automation technologies, including Gen AI and Cloud initiatives, to shape the future of finance automation strategy.

Risk and Governance Management: Ensure that all automation solutions are aligned with operational risk management and governance standards, avoiding any major audit issues.

Project Management: Take charge of identifying new initiatives and projects, including the preparation of business cases and securing project approvals.

Advanced Analytics & Automation: Lead the development of advanced analytics models using Gen-AI and Machine Learning, ensuring the preparation, reconciliation, and visualization of data. Translate business needs into actionable technological and automation solutions.

Team Development: Foster a growth-oriented environment for team members, inspiring purpose and providing opportunities for professional development, mastery, and autonomy.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

10+ years of experience in Data Science, particularly in major industry-based projects. Previous experience in financial data analysis and data modeling is essential.

Technical Expertise: Strong experience with Full Stack Development, Cloud Computing (GCP/AWS), Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and Database Management (SQL/Teradata).

Data Science Expertise: In-depth experience in Data Mining, Profiling, and the development of Data Models using tools like Python, JavaScript, and other data science technologies.

Financial Data Knowledge: Experience in financial data analysis, data modeling, and a solid understanding of the finance domain is essential.

Advanced Certifications (Desirable): Advanced Microsoft Certifications and any open-source tool certifications are preferred but not mandatory.

Proficiency in CI/CD and DevOps processes.

Web Development Frameworks: Experience with Angular JS, React JS, and .NET/Core.

Technical Documentation: Ability to create and maintain clear and detailed technical documentation.

Systems Knowledge: Hands-on experience with systems such as Teradata, Profitability Systems, ANZ Core Banking systems, and Microsoft SQL Server.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities to support troubleshooting and problem-solving, particularly around data and business issues.

Relationship Building: Proven ability to build and nurture relationships across business and technical teams, with high influencing and stakeholder management skills.

Autonomy & Teamwork: A self-starter with the ability to work independently, as well as collaborate effectively within a team environment.
