About the Role
Financial Crime Threat Management (FCTM) is responsible for providing AML/CTF and Sanctions compliance services for ANZ businesses. This includes the detection and reporting of suspicious matters, enhancing ANZ’s control environment and ensuring financial crime risks are effectively identified and managed in compliance with ANZ’s regulatory obligations.
As Head of Financial Crime Capability Centres within the Financial Crime Portfolio (FCP), you will play a critical role in ensuring that the Financial Crime teams in our Group Capability Centres operate effectively, delivering high-quality financial crime risk management and compliance services. You will drive effective outcomes aligned with agreed service levels, regulatory obligations, and support a diverse range of stakeholders.

What will your day look like?
As Head of Financial Crime Capability Centres, you will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with FCTM and FCP leadership and executing on strategic priorities and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and regulatory expectations.
- Driving the delivery of key projects and initiatives.
- Driving operational efficiency, effective capacity management, and providing strategic insights to mitigate financial crime risk.
- Proactively monitoring the financial crime threat landscape and emerging risks, ensuring FCP capabilities remain fit-for-purpose and adaptable to evolving regulatory and market conditions.
- Championing innovation and continuous improvement, leveraging technology, data, and analytics to enhance detection, monitoring, and operational effectiveness.
- Strengthening capabilities across FCTM teams to enable complex work, improve service quality, and support ongoing development and performance excellence.
- Ensuring timely escalation, documentation, discussion, and resolution of risk issues.
- Providing strategic oversight and direction to the FCP teams, ensuring delivery against agreed service levels and compliance obligations.
- Building strong stakeholder relationships across the organisation, influencing decision-making and driving collaboration to achieve financial crime risk management objectives.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Strong leadership and strategic management capabilities, with the ability to drive operational discipline and excellence across multiple teams.
- Expertise in capacity and performance management, including resource allocation, performance metrics analysis.
- Proven experience in financial crime management, risk management, compliance or related discipline with a strong understanding of financial crime threats, control frameworks, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work under pressure and lead large teams in a dynamic, time driven, high volume, high accuracy, high consequence environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Able to manage priorities and conflicting issues in a professional manner, including strong influencing skills.
