About the Role
As a Senior Analyst, Risk Assessment or Senior Analyst, Coverage Assessment, you will join Financial Crime Threat Management (FCTM) and strive to protect our business and communities against financial crime threats. Depending on the role you secure, you will be:
- Supporting the effective operation and continuous enhancement of ANZ’s Financial Crime Risk Assessment framework in alignment with AML/CTF policy and regulatory requirements, or
- Understanding ANZ's exposure to current and emerging financial crime threats to develop recommendations to enhance ANZ's control environment as commensurate with ANZ's risk exposure.
Ensuring effective working relationships with Financial Crime teams and business stakeholders will be critical to your success.

What will your day look like?
As a Senior Analyst, Risk Assessment, you will:
- Support the development, maintenance and continuous enhancement of Risk Assessment (RA) frameworks and methodologies, to assess internal and external risk factors which impact ANZ’s financial crime control environment. This includes assessing if related risk assessment tools supporting RA Framework and methodology are aligned to ANZ risk appetite and perform periodic/trigger reviews of RA framework and methodology to identify if changes/updates are required to align with AML/CTF & Sanctions program.
- Oversee and track completion of Product and Channel AML/CTF & Sanctions Risk Assessments. Provide advice and support as required. Support the provision of risk theme insights to forums where required.
- Assisting in provision of risk theme insights to the Head of Financial Crime Threat Management, FC Governance, Group General Manager Financial Crime and relevant governance forums as appropriate, that FC risk is effectively identified and managed.
As a Senior Analyst, Financial Crime Coverage Assessment, you will:
- Conduct horizon scanning to proactively identify reports and publications issued by regulators, financial intelligence units, inter-governmental agencies in ANZ’s operating jurisdictions, as well as global and regional industry bodies, to identify emerging risks and regulatory expectations, and assess potential impacts on ANZ’s financial crime risk and control landscape.
- Where potential impacts are identified, the horizon scanning assessment will include recommendations to ensure timely and effective mitigation.
- Perform financial crime coverage assessments to evaluate whether ANZ’s control environment adequately and efficiently addresses current, emerging, or evolving financial crime risks and regulatory expectations, and recommend enhancements where necessary.
- Collaborate with respective Control Owners across FCP, FCTM and business to create awareness and implement appropriate risk response.
- Ensure recommendations for change are consistent with legal obligations and commercial considerations.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- 3+ years of Financial Crime or Risk experience (background in banking preferable).
- Strong data analysis and data mining aptitude.
- Ability to establish collaborative working relationships and build strong networks both internally and externally.
- Strong verbal, written, and numeracy communication skills with a proven ability to document business requirements.
- Experience working in Financial Services and Non-Financial Risk.
- Tertiary education degree or relevant Financial Crime Certificate would be beneficial
