About the Role

As a Support & Operations Engineer in our MQ Squad you’ll play a key role in helping to deliver robust, flexible and secure integration platforms and offering integration capability as a service. This role manage the tribe backlog, working closely with others to prioritise work, manage interdependencies and distil features to epics. TPLs define what success looks like for the tribe and then measure their progress against that. In some cases, this role will also manage a chapter of Product Owners.

What will your day look like?

• Maintain and support MQ platforms across on-prem and cloud (AWS/GCP).

• Use DevOps tools (Git, Docker, Jenkins/Codefresh) and automation (Terraform) to manage infrastructure.

• Troubleshoot issues, diagnose defects, and support high-availability/failover configurations.

• Collaborate with Product Owners to prioritize and break down technical work.

• Participate in continuous improvement and innovation across integration services.

• Ability to analyse and evaluate designs and understand process flow

• Exposure to MQ performance tuning in a large and complex environments.

• Ability to diagnose defects/issues, and demonstrates triage and problem solving capability to develop and deliver quality solutions

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Must to have experience on DevOps tools – Codefresh or Jenkins, GIT, Docker
• Must to have good working knowledge on any one cloud (AWS or GCP) technology.
• Must to have experience on these EC2, S3, ECR, RDS, etc type of AWS services or GCP equivalent.
• Must to have experience in IAC tools like Terraform along with automation.
• Good experience in debugging shell / batch scripts
• Experience on BM MQ (formerly WebSphere MQ)
• Experience in design or build of MQ infrastructure for high availability and auto failover capabilities using OS & MQ clustering.
• Strong demonstration of WMQ and IIB system administration
• Experience in design or build of Connect:Direct infrastructure for high availability and auto failover capabilities
• Interaction with Vendors, liaising with them on escalation of any issues
• Experience in setting up MQ/CD on Cloud platforms
• Exposure to other operating platforms like iSeries and zOS
• Hands-on experience with 3rd Party MQ Administration/Monitoring tools e.g. BMM, Tivoli performance manager , ICC etc
