About the Role

 

As a Director, Head of Non-Financial Risk - GCC, you will be accountable for leading the Institutional Non-Financial Risk team in the Global Capability Centre (GCC), based in Bengaluru, and building a strong, outcome-oriented front-office NFR function that manages non-financial risks in a proactive, practical and effective manner. The role supports the Institutional business globally by strengthening NFR capability across Markets, Transaction Banking and Corporate Finance, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, managed and reported with strong discipline, clear ownership and a focus on sustainable business outcomes. 
  
The role is also responsible for building Risk Centre of Excellence capabilities for the Institutional business across resilience risk, financial crime risk, regulatory compliance, and governance and reporting. The incumbent will partner closely with business leaders, control functions and enterprise stakeholders to uplift risk capability, embed consistent and scalable practices, and create a high-performing team with deep Institutional knowledge.

What will your day look like?

 

As a Director, Non-Financial Risk - GCC, you will be accountable for:

 

  • Lead the Institutional NFR team in the Global Capability Center, providing clear direction, strong governance, and effective execution aligned to Institutional business outcomes
  • Act as a trusted partner to Institutional stakeholders, applying strong judgement, business understanding, and practical risk advice to support decision-making and sustainable growth
  • Build non-financial risk capability across Markets, Transaction Banking, and Corporate Finance, ensuring strong understanding of product, process, risk, and control environments
  • Strengthen the team’s Institutional business knowledge and front-office risk partnering capability to ensure support is practical, credible, and aligned to business priorities
  • Establish and grow Risk Centre of Excellence capabilities across resilience risk, financial crime risk, regulatory compliance, governance, and reporting
  • Support the effective management of risk in change by embedding new capabilities, processes, and governance arrangements in a practical and sustainable way
  • Build, lead, and retain a high-performing Institutional NFR team in Bengaluru with strong front-office credibility, technical depth, and execution capability
  • Develop strong and trusted relationships with Institutional NFR, business leaders, 2LOD, control functions, and enterprise stakeholders to drive aligned and effective risk outcomes
  • Drive capability uplift through coaching, structured development, and strengthening risk partnering practices across the team
  • Attract, develop, and retain talent through coaching, capability building, succession planning, and a focus on engagement and career growth

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Strong experience in Institutional banking and non-financial risk, with a solid understanding of Markets, Transaction Banking, and Corporate Finance products, processes, and operating environments
  • Deep expertise in non-financial risk management, governance, reporting, and control environments within a large and complex financial services organisation 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing, front-office aligned NFR teams with strong business understanding and practical risk partnering capability
  • Proven experience in building risk capabilities and scalable operating models to improve consistency and quality
  • Strong knowledge of key risk areas including resilience, financial crime, compliance, and governance
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex risk issues and influence decision-making
  • Experience using data, management information, and visualisation tools to support risk insight, governance, prioritisation, and decision-making
  • Sound understanding of front-office operating models and the non-financial risk challenges associated with Institutional products and client activity
  • Familiarity with enterprise risk systems, governance tools, and control frameworks, along with experience in building or scaling capability centres and working with global stakeholders
  • Tertiary qualifications in risk, finance, commerce, law, business, or a related discipline, with relevant professional certifications or accreditations in risk, governance, compliance, financial crime, or finance highly regarded
