Position Title: Engineer (Devops Mainframe Engineer)

This role sits within ‘Core Systems Tech Area’ under Australia Retail & Commercial Division. Core Systems is a conglomerate of mainframe applications that run ANZ's Customer, Deposits, Lending, Transaction and Credit Card Systems for Retail and Commercial Businesses. Servicing multiple business units and tribes across ANZ, we run mission critical applications for the bank that process thousands of transactions per second in real time and this brings serious challenges to solve and engineer.

We are in the process of modernizing our legacy systems and embarking on a massive journey to modernize the way we build, test and deploy applications on Mainframe platform. We are looking for a talented engineer who is ready to take the next step in the career and keen to make life better for engineers by creating, evolving and supporting a modern enterprise grade CI/CD capability for Mainframe apps across ANZ. The role involves managing and working across a wide range of technologies and provide a CI/CD capability to enable application development teams to adopt true modern Devops culture and deliver code changes more frequently and reliably.

• Must have 12 years of experience
• Deep expertise in Hogan and Mainframe technologies
• In depth knowledge of coding standards on mainframes and end to end deployment activities.
• Ability to take complete accountability and support from coding to production implementation independently using new devops framework for larger mainframe applications.
• Strong knowledge on Scalability, Security, Logging, Auditing, Policy Management and Performance Monitoring for end-to-end process execution
• Proven analytical skills and evidence-based decision making
• Proven ability to innovate and adapt to latest development in area of expertise
• Successfully led projects or a large BAU change agenda
• Developed and executed breakthrough domain strategies that deliver the business strategy
• Continuous improvement junkie – ability to constructively challenge the status quo, look for better ways to do things and passionately advocate continuous improvement. Automate everything
• Ability to make right trade-off choices when dealing with functional complexity a, conflicting priorities and aggressive schedules

What will your day look like

As a Senior Devops Engineer, you will be responsible for building and evolving our offering with technical leadership in designing, coding and validating technical solutions. You will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of technology including infrastructure and configuration as code tools, cloud services, service mesh, CI/CD and observability tools. The team is responsible for abstracting the complexities of mainframe platforms so that application features can move from development to production in a seamless, secure and fully automated manner.

You’ll create a lasting impact by:

• Working with your laser focus on automation and DevOps engineering techniques, to design and implement secure, simple and impactful solutions
• Creating solutions to automate and simplify CI/CD pipelines and related tooling
• Shaping how ANZ delivers on its commitment to provide great customer service through technology
• Working at a senior level collaborating with various teams, architects, engineers and operations experts

• Security: Broadcom ACF2 & IBM RACF |Active Directory | Role Based Access Control (RBAC) | TLS Certificate management | Secrets management using Hashicorp Vault | IBM z/OS Cryptographic services
•  While few of our engineers have all the skills above, they do all code. Your curiosity, learning aptitude and growth mind-set is more important than the specific technical skills you carry.  “Not my job” is not part of your vocabulary.
• This is a role for an experienced technologist and you are required to provide 24/7 on-call Support on rotational basis as and when required. You will need to have a hands-on approach and be expected to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty.
