About the Role
Data Modeler – Credit Decisioning and Collections Technology Area
Role Location – Bengaluru
Role Type – Permanent, Full Time
Job Grade - Group 4.3
As a Data Modeler, you’ll play a key role in helping to deliver solutions supporting Credit Decisioning and Collections technology area within the Risk, Legal & Audit Technology domain. Your primary role will be to perform data modelling, establishing and maintaining data governance practices across multiple applications within the platform.
Core Skills and Expertise required:
- Data Engineering Languages - Solving complex problems using programming techniques, drives consistency across teams, and Leading code quality improvements with large-scale changes.
- Data Flow Engineering - Developing data pipelines and schemas, turning Designing into implementations, and identifies potential issues or complexities.
- Data Quality Assurance - Implementing data Designing into pipelines, identifies edge cases, and contributes to key design decisions.
- Data Modelling - Designing and implementing complex models like star and snowflake schemas and optimizes data storage.
- Documentation - Anticipates documentation needs for both technical and non-technical audiences, coaching others, and contributes to organizational documentation standards.
- Soft Skills – Communication, Problem Solving, Planning and Prioritisation, Critical Thinking.
- Incident, Risk and Issue Management - Independently assesses operational risks, applies security policies to mitigate issues, and effectively manages incidents while coordinating teams and communicating progress to stakeholders.
- Change Management - Developing and implementing change plans, analyzing culture and readiness, with minimal guidance.
- Agile practices, Data Privacy & Ethics - Effectively participates in Agile teams, adapting to iterative processes and new ways of working. Applying data privacy laws and ethical guidelines to ensure compliance in various data-related activities.
- Domain - product, process, Testing, Tools & system - Applying domain knowledge to solve problems and improve systems or processes, contributing independently.
What will your day look like?
- Working closely with the architecture and data governance team along with squad members to deliver the squad priorities sprint after sprint
- Analysing data flow of several dependent applications, understand the nature of data flow and the relationship between data elements.
- Creating logical data models, establish relationships between entities
- Ensuring every release adheres to data governance principles established in the domain
- Use of data management tools like Metadata Hub to understand and review end to end flow of metadata
What will you bring?
- Minimum 8 years of experience in the software industry, including 4+ years of relevant experience in data modelling roles.
- Strong analytical capability to understand and assess complex application landscapes, data flows, and interdependencies across systems.
- Proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to design effective solutions for medium to high-complexity data and technology challenges.
- Hands-on experience with data modelling tools such as Erwin (or equivalent) to define entities, relationships, and standards.
- Strong experience in both logical and physical data modelling, including designing scalable and maintainable data structures.
- Demonstrated expertise in eliciting, analysing, and documenting data requirements, data migration rules, and developing complex data mappings across systems.
- Solid proficiency in SQL and scripting across multiple data platforms (e.g., Oracle, MS SQL Server, or similar).
- Practical experience in metadata management, including data lineage, business glossaries, and impact analysis.
- Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks, with a good understanding of SDLC methodologies and best practices.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with high-performing, cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
