The Data Management Operations Analyst role is responsible for executing data management capabilities in the Division, spanning Data Quality, Reference and Master Data, Standards and Obligations.
The role will require you to combine your experience spanning analysis of systems and processes as well as your data management skills in order to achieve outcomes.
Your role will be critical in partnering with the business and supporting them with your knowledge of data management and your familiarity with the Enterprise Data Risk Framework, Standards and Policies. As a Data Management Operations Analyst, you will consult with stakeholders to understand the business problem and collaborate with other data practitioners to define and deliver appropriate data solutions.
What will your day look like?
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within our Division, within Data & Analytics Team, as well with our partners spanning Enterprise Data Risk, Technology, Digital and other divisions.
- Help ensure data is organised, managed and leveraged within Australia Retail to meet obligations, help the Business and achieve great outcomes for Customers and Bankers.
- Support multiple business units in Australia Retail with the delivery of data outcomes – including understanding requirements, mapping, analysing, and supporting process and process evolution resulting in high quality data.
- Manage - and at times lead - activities and issues to drive business value with data as a focus
- Operate a robust approach to Data Quality, Reference and Master Data, Policies, Standards and Obligations reviews, Records, Privacy and Ethics management
- Managing data quality issues and driving remediation strategies and execution
- Mapping and cataloguing data elements and data assets and addressing any data quality shortcomings identified in our Divisions data
- Delivering against committed milestones
- Identify and address constraints that hinder progress, escalating as appropriate
- Ensure ANZ's core values are always maintained in dealing with staff, colleagues and customers.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

Degree qualifications in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Business Administration or Equivalent.
- 1 to 2 years of foundational experience or exposure to data management or data governance concepts, particularly data quality.
- A collaborative team player with a willingness to learn and contribute in a supportive team environment
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience identifying, analysing and resolving data quality issues.
- Foundational understanding of key data concepts such as metadata, data lineage, data assets, accountability for data, and the data lifecycle.
- Experience working in an Agile or delivery-focused environment, with an ability to analyse information and support fact-based decision making.
- Basic to intermediate experience with data analysis tools and techniques, such as Excel and SQL; exposure to Python, Tableau, QlikSense, or similar tools is advantageous.
- Comfortable building trusted and productive relationships and succeed through collaboration
- A highly collaborative mindset, with an openness to sharing knowledge and learning from others.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders (technical and non-technical)
- Foundational understanding of compliance, operational risk, and data protection / privacy principles, particularly in the context of data quality.
