About the Role

As a Data Engineer within the Engineering, Tooling & Data Services team, you will support a broad spectrum of data‑related services across technology, including data analytics, data management, audit support, compliance, reporting, and risk management.

Your role will contribute to uplifting ANZ’s data governance capabilities and strengthening adherence to enterprise frameworks.

What will your day look like?

In this role, you will:

• Support activities to ensure data‑related services comply with the ANZ Enterprise Governance Framework and the I.AM Framework.
• Contribute to developing clear, practical guidelines that streamline processes while ensuring alignment with policies and standards.
• Assist the Data Manager in cross‑domain working groups to uplift data governance maturity across the organisation.
• Monitor the health and lifecycle of Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
• Track, manage, and drive the timely resolution of Data Quality Issues (DQIs).
• Support audit procedures, compliance assessments, and risk mitigation initiatives.
• Partner with stakeholders to maintain transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in data governance.

What will you bring?

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

• 4–6 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or related data roles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to simplify complexity
• A genuine passion for data and a clear understanding of data consumers and business impact
• Clear and confident verbal and written communication skills
• Experience supporting senior stakeholders in workshops and governance forums
• Strong collaboration skills and sound judgement in decision-making
• Data Governance Tools: Collibra, Informatica, IBM Infosphere / Watson
• Programming & Scripting: Python, SQL, Bash or PowerShell
• Data Quality & Reporting: Informatica DQ, Qlik, Tableau, Power BI
• Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Teradata, Hadoop
• Cloud (Desirable): Azure Data Factory, Databricks
• Ways of Working: Agile environments, JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint
• Familiarity with ANZ Enterprise Data Governance practices will be highly regarded.
