About the Role
The Senior Engineer designs and delivers end-to-end data solutions to support business intelligence and decision making, including critical regulatory and strategic projects. This role works in a multi-disciplinary squad to source, extract, move and model data, to build data assets and create reporting solutions. This role drives reliability by ensuring all relevant processes and controls are followed. As Senior Engineer, this role also supports others to upskill and share knowledge and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.

What will your day look like?
As a Senior Engineer, your key accountabilities include:
- Contribute to system and application design aligned with ANZ technical standards
- Participate in end-to-end development, from requirements to secure data delivery
- Ensure adherence to ANZ Group policies, Information & Insights strategy, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain data quality through governance and control standards
- Provide timely support for production systems
- Follow standard change and problem management processes
- Offer guidance through code reviews and technical leadership
- Mentor peers and junior team members to upskill and share knowledge
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Experience in designing and creating end to end data warehousing solutions with a broad technology stack, including orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, Spark, Astronomer etc
- Strong proficiency in RDBMS platforms (e.g., SQL-based systems), with expertise in query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and performance tuning
- Programming Expertise: Strong experience in Python, preferably following object-oriented principles, Test-Driven Development: for building scalable and maintainable data solutions
- Experience containerization, object storage solutions, APIs, automation, and CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient data solutions
- Stakeholder Engagement & Strong problem-solving skills
- Adapt at constructively challenging existing processes and procedures to drive efficiency and innovation
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation abilities with proven capability to influence and collaborate across teams
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment
- Added Advantage: Exposure to AI concepts and tools for enhancing data-driven solutions and analytics. Exposure to Astronomer Suite of applications
