About the Role


As an Engineer Chapter Lead,  you will lead a team of microservices engineers, define best practices, and drive operational excellence across our AWS platform. You'll partner closely with Design, architecture, product, and DevOps to deliver scalable, resilient, and efficient AWS-based microservices.

Work Hours: 7 AM to 4 PM

What will your day look like?


As a Chapter Lead, you will:

 

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a chapter (or guild) of Microservices engineers
  • Designing and building scalable, secure, and high-throughput backend services from the ground up
  • Driving architectural and design decisions aligned with modern Java and cloud-native engineering
  • Contributing to a strong engineering culture that values innovation, performance, and reliabilityUndertake relevant research including the evaluation of new software, tools, and
  • techniques, ensuring they are fit to the Bank's enterprise architecture and standards
  • Actively participate in incident reviews, conduct thorough root cause analyses, and lead remediation efforts to address recurring or systemic issues
  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders and peers to refine business requirements and to ensure they are met
  • Java 21, Spring Boot 3, Spring Cloud, Virtual Threads (Project Loom), Reactive programming (Reactor)Exposure with lightweight frameworks like Micronaut or Quarkus for fast, scalable microservices
  • Proficient experience with Git and CI/CD techniques and processes
  • Kafka, gRPC, and REST APIs for real-time and event-based communication
  • Cloud: AWS and Containers
  • Databases: AWS Database technologies (Aurora, RDS, Redis), ElastiCache, Oracle

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Experience in Microservices engineering
  • 8+ Years of experience in the industry
  • Experience in a leadership or mentoring role
  • Proven experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, EKS / ECS, IAM, CloudWatch)
  • Hands-on experience designing, develop, deploying, and operating microservices (e.g., Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes / EKS)
  • Strong background in infrastructure-as-code, using tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or CDK
  • Monitoring and observability: experience with CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc
  • Containerization experience (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS, ECS)
  • Deep understanding of networking, security, and AWS identity & access management 

 

You might also have the following skills:

 

  • ITIL certified
  • Knowledge of OpenShift/AWS/GCP
  • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus
