About the Role

 

As Chapter Lead Tech Area Architect, you will be accountable for defining, driving, and governing the technology architecture strategy within the Enterprise Finance Domain and Group Risk. You will collaborate with senior architects, engineering teams, and business leaders across Group Services and the broader enterprise to shape a scalable, resilient, and future-ready technology landscape that aligns with ANZ's strategic objectives and architectural standards.

 

You will play a pivotal role in guiding the architecture function, fostering innovation, and ensuring best practices are embedded within solution design and execution. This role reports to the Domain Architect and requires deep technical leadership and strong stakeholder management skills.

What will your day look like?

 

As Chapter Lead Tech Area Architect, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

 

  • Experience: Must have 14+Years relevant experience
  • Architecture Leadership: Define and maintain the Group Finance and Group Risk Technology Strategy, Roadmaps, Architecture, and Governance.
  • Strategic Influence: Lead the design, planning, and execution of architecture roadmaps that align with ANZ’s long-term objectives and drive digital transformation.
  • Solution Governance: Provide oversight on solution design, architecture patterns, and best practices to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles.
  • Enterprise Collaboration: Work across multiple teams, use cases, and source systems to develop an architecture that maximizes business value, flexibility, and efficiency.
  • Innovation & Thought Leadership: Act as an industry expert, promoting modern technology trends, cloud adoption, and emerging risk frameworks within the domain.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Influence, negotiate, and build strong relationships with business leaders, engineering teams, and senior executives.
  • Technology Decision-Making: Drive informed technology choices, ensuring they meet business needs while balancing cost, performance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentorship & Team Enablement: Coach and develop architects and engineering teams, ensuring they are empowered to make architectural decisions autonomously.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Ensure that solutions meet finance, risk, and regulatory requirements, and proactively manage potential architecture risks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote reusability, simplification, and standardization across domains to drive efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO).

What will you bring?

 

Technical & Domain Expertise:

  • Deep experience within Enterprise Finance, Tax, Treasury, and Risk technology domains.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP) and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Proven expertise in designing scalable, extensible, and resilient enterprise architectures.
  • Experience defining and governing architecture patterns, guardrails, and standards.
  • Strong understanding of finance and risk data models, regulatory reporting, and risk frameworks.
  • Relevant certification such as TOGAF and cloud solution architect are highly desirable.

 

Strategic & Leadership Capabilities:

  • Ability to define long-term technology strategies while delivering short-term business value.
  • Experience leading multiple squads and cross-functional teams in a large enterprise.
  • Proven ability to influence senior executives, stakeholders, and engineering leaders.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring teams, with a proven track record of growing and developing a chapter of architects/solution designers/engineers to drive innovation and excellence in enterprise technology solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate decision-making and governance.
  • Ability to drive innovation and emerging technology adoption in a complex enterprise environment.

Detailed Description

 

Solution Architecture & Execution:

  • Experience acting as a Senior Architect, Solution Architect, or Domain Architect.
  • Successfully designed and delivered enterprise-wide technology solutions.
  • Led and governed large-scale transformations, cloud migrations, and digital initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of data management, integration patterns, and enterprise security.

 

Business & Commercial Acumen:

  • Strong ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.
  • Experience in evaluating and presenting solution options with cost-benefit analysis.
  • Strong commercial mindset to ensure solutions deliver value within 3-6 months and minimize TCO.
