About the Role
This leader works at the intersection of data, AI, and business transformation — shaping the target-state data ecosystem and accelerating simplification with next-generation AI and analytics capabilities. You will work within established frameworks and standards, contributing to the design, delivery and operation of ANZ’s data capability. You will collaborate with colleagues, share knowledge, and help build capability within your team and across adjacent teams. You will apply your extensive expertise in data, analytics, and agentic AI to lead the architecting, development and delivery of ANZ’s data and analytics solutions.

What will your day look like?
As a Capability Area Lead, you are accountable for:
- Lead a team of Data Engineers delivering a world class modern data and analytics platform, data transformation and AI-enabled modernisation
- Define a data and analytics platform strategy that incorporates AI-driven insights, automated metadata discovery, and LLM-assisted documentation.
- Implement Agentic AI-enabled tools to provide high value simplification and automation, including the software development lifecycle, lineage mapping, metadata extraction, data quality scanning and pattern detection, data governance practices
- Partner with data engineers and business data practitioners to ensure simplified data flows enable future GenAI models, agentic workflows, and automation solutions
- Define a platform architecture for GenAI-powered data products, data transformation pipelines and automation capabilities.
- Lead delivery across the software development life-cycle, using modern practices and AI-driven insights to accelerate decision-making.
- Communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders, translating them into actionable roadmaps. Present findings, trends, and insights to senior leadership and governance forums.
What will you bring?
- 18+ years in modern data and analytics platforms, including data platform architecture, data engineering and experience leading complex data transformation or simplification programs
- Experience in enterprise cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), particularly with AI-native services and LLMs services.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, domain design, metadata management, and analytic architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Agentic AI/ML or GenAI tools used for analysis, lineage, profiling, or documentation. Ability to translate Agentic AI opportunities into actionable simplification outcomes.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks enhanced by GenAI automation and AI agents.
- Passionate about Technology and developing customer centric solutions
- Able to create a culture where people can learn, grow and perform to their best
- Intensely curious and driven to achieve exceptional outcomes for customers and keen to shape the strategic direction of the bank
- Experience in creating efficient and high-performing teams and develop skilled team members
- Strives to increase the maturity of the IT platforms to ensure our people are enabled to deliver at maximum value at speed
- A collaborative leader that coaches, guides and encourages teams to share knowledge within and across teams
- Able to build, maintain and influence key stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
- Advanced experience in a variety of IT infrastructure platform environments
