Job Title: Analyst

As a senior engineer, you will provide technical expertise, lead and inspire a cross functional and diverse software development team, translating complex business requirements into technological solutions. 

The successful applicant will be responsible for working with multiple initiatives to understand requirements and to translate them into tangible solutions.  You will be required to work in a team and individually to deliver quality outcomes.  You will be from a highly technical background with strong development experience (particularly in Appian BPM and SQL).  

You must understand design best practices and be able to implement solutions to a high quality and standard.  You are required to be self-motivated and to be inquisitive about the work that you are performing, challenging assumptions and design approaches based on your viewpoints and experience.  You must contribute to the Body of Knowledge maintained by the team to support knowledge transfer and future growth. The role will be part of an exciting Squad that has delivered many automated workflows solutions onto the Appian platform.  Your role will encompass enhancements of existing solutions as well as the delivery of new processes to the platform.

What will your day look like

  • Work with the Appian BPM Product Owner, Analysts, Business Unit Operations’ teams and other people in your Squad to translate workflow business requirements into Epics, User Stories and provide development estimates. 
  • Analyse requirements, develop high quality code, Test in an automated way, and ship software features into production in the agreed timelines and budget
  • Lead the Workflow Business-as-Usual Governance meetings to manage demand and ensure requirements, dependencies, risks are socialised with the stakeholders. Participate and present in Sprint product showcases as necessary. 
  • Manage the Platform/Infrastructure Capacity requirements, work with infrastructure stakeholders, product owner and BU stakeholders
  • Provide Level 3 application support not limited to Problem Management, Incident analysis, raise and maintain technology Operational risks, ANZ development framework compliance and technology change management
  • Work with different stakeholders and influence outcomes to uncover dependencies and validate boundaries and sequencing of User Stories.
  • As a technical lead, you will also be working with the leadership team and building world class software delivery capabilities iteratively using best practices, adherence to ANZ policies, ensuring they are reliable and re-usable
  • Mentor squad members, maintain documentation and contribute to professional development of co-workers in the squad as needed

What will you bring?

  • Overall 12+ years’ experience in software industry at least 2+ years in the Appian BPM Platform having Appian Analyst/developer credentials
  • Strong SQL and Integration Experience in the BPM area using JAVA, Webservices
  • Technically strong across software engineering practices, having at least 8 years’ hand- on experience in coding modern web applications and API services.
  • Knowledge of Agile Practices, usage of collaboration tools such as Confluence, JIRA, Bit Bucket, Artifactory, Service Now 
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with IT and business audiences at all levels, both verbally and in writing to socialise, solicit opinions and accept feedback.
  • Hands-on technical experience and a can-do approach towards automation, management, and continuous improvement
  • An understanding of customer needs to make sound strategic judgments
  • Experience working in cross functional, Agile and continuous delivery teams
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated problem solving capability to develop and deliver quality applications that delight customers
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to clearly articulate in both written & verbal to a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Adaptable and Flexible to deal with uncertainty and ambiguity
  • Experience working with two or more from the following: Web application development, Micro-services, OpenShift/GCP/AWS Cloud environments, Distributed Systems, Common Runtime Services & Libraries, Insight Reliability and Performance 
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, .Net, Golang, JavaScript, TypeScript, Bash. Common programming libraries including but not limited to React, Redux, Spring Boot, Node.js.
  • Familiar with integration & communication patterns, such as RESTful, Kafka
