About the Role
As a Technology Area Lead, you will champion the execution of IT Strategy to advance your Area’s mission and deliver measurable business value. By partnering closely with business sponsors and Tribe Leads, you will co-create a compelling vision and strategic roadmap that aligns technology initiatives with organizational priorities. Your leadership will elevate IT maturity, ensuring systems are robust, scalable, and future-ready. You will foster a high-performance culture grounded in trust, psychological safety, and continuous learning, empowering your team to innovate and excel. You will proactively work to eliminate barriers and roadblocks that impact your team’s ability to deliver and achieve results. With the customer experience at the heart of everything you do, you will drive IT innovation and be key to executing the Pacific Technology Platforms Strategy.

What will your day look like?
- Develop and implement the Technology Strategy for your Technical Area aligned to ANZ’s strategic IT agenda and the Pacific’s Technology’s IT vision.
- Embed culture of learning, empowerment, rapid experimentation, adaptability and collaboration.
- Managing the full ecosystem of Technology within your Technical Area, including the effective partnership with external providers and leveraging the full capabilities of our global Technology workforce.
- Work with People Managers and Technical leads in your Area to build and develop the technical expertise and capability you need to deliver and to drive innovation.
- Drive the development of a service ecosystem that is seamlessly integrated, strategically aligned to business needs, fully transparent in its operations, and designed for effortless adoption and usability by stakeholders.
- Responsible for the support and stability of the asset including increasing productivity whilst managing cost and quality.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships and exercise influence across Pacific Technology and the broader enterprise, collaborating closely with business sponsors and Technology Leads to ensure that the Technology Strategy is fully aligned with and drives the organization’s core business objectives.
- Responsible for managing the asset lifecycle of the Technology Platforms in your Area and how they interact with our core systems, ensuring they remain fit for purpose, well-supported and stable and that capacity planning is managed effectively.
What will you bring?
- Proven track record of strategic technology leadership, with deep expertise in managing complex, multi-disciplinary teams across geographies.
- Demonstrated ability to drive business outcomes through effective management of strategy, risk, finance, people, and service delivery within the technology domain.
- In-depth knowledge of core banking systems and their integration, with hands-on experience overseeing support, transformation, and major migrations of mission-critical platforms.
- Skilled in building high-performing, empowered teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and customer-centricity.
- Adept at influencing and partnering with senior stakeholders to align technology strategy with business objectives, delivering measurable value and operational excellence.
- Commercially astute, with a focus on simplification, efficiency, and sustainable growth.
- Experience collaborating with vendor partners to deliver large-scale initiatives, particularly within the Pacific region, is highly valued.
- Proven experience in managing the support and maintenance of core banking and channel systems would be mandatory.
