As a Capability Area lead in our Personalised Sales and Engagement Tribe, you’ll play a key role in helping us build momentum in Australia Retail division of ANZ through increased brand consideration and improved digital sales, as well as delivering on the transformation agenda through data-driven automation, customer insights and capability excellence.
About the Role
The primary responsibilities of this people focused role will be to engage with TALs / PALs / CALs and manage our senior business & product stakeholders, develop our Analyst Chapter Leads and Release Leads and be accountable for the wider uplift in Chapter members’ capabilities, as well as vendor partners, to build world class proficiency uplift across the specialist Business & System analysis and Release functions supporting the Tribe.
As a Capability Area Lead (CAL), you will have a vision for the expertise of the Chapter and will monitor and drive capability development towards this. You leverage expertise across our Analysis and Release chapters drawing on broader thought leadership and experts for whole team betterment.
You will be seen as a credible guide, mentor and coach by chapter leads and members. You will contribute more broadly for ANZ as you own the standards within your capability area and ensure alignment with other similarly focussed Capability Area Leads and Chapter Leads across portfolios. Your remit is broad, flexible, and evolving.
As part of the Leadership Team, you will play a critical role in role modelling a collaborative, safe, and enthusiastic culture and way of working. You will provide opportunities for Analyst Chapter Leads, Business/Systems Analysts and Release leads to learn and grow within their roles and mentor them, providing valuable guidance based on your past experiences and knowledge of the industry.

What will your day look like?
- Understand the needs of the customer and work with our business and product stakeholders to ensure our analyst and release teams are setup to deliver on outcomes on time with high quality.
- Contribute expertise to support the realisation of squad and tribe missions. Write enterprise playbooks for the analysis and release functions and localise enterprise expectations and tools.
- Provide guidance and Leadership for squads/product teams in your area and work to uplift analysis practices and release cadence and confidence through established patterns and practices.
- Create shared clarity – bring people on the journey, creating a shared understanding of context, purpose, goals and progress. Even if its ambiguous, create focus and enough certainty to deliver and succeed.
- Understand the needs of the analyst and release chapters and be a strong voice for them. Ensure the chapter leads and members are supported and provided opportunities to learn and grow.
- Perform line management duties and resource the squads throughout the analysis and release lead functions. Coach and develop expertise by promoting an ‘always learning’ culture.
- Work with leadership to understand and plan for workforce capability needs, current and future. Hire great talent to complement the existing workforce.
- Facilitate and drive collaboration across technology teams and foster a collaborative working environment and culture between squads, tribes, and the broader technology domain.
- Be a champion for the completion of the project and manage/resolve blockers leveraging your strong interpersonal skills across the bank and the various tribes.
What will you bring?
- Profound expertise in your Chapter’s area combined with a broad capability and the proven ability to innovate and adapt to the latest developments.
- Experience in leadership roles including leading through and advocating change, with an ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including vendor partners.
- The ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, anchoring your approach in ANZ’s values and leadership behaviours. This includes a reputation for coaching, encouraging curiosity and investing in people development.
- Deep understanding of Pega decisioning features; Experience in contributing to delivery of services to support data management in PegaCDH from data across platforms.
- Deep understanding of cloud, data and integration platforms along with business knowledge of data driven Personalisation solutions.
- Deep understanding of Martech capabilities including Customer decisioning applications and platforms; Channel execution applications and platforms; Data and Digital applications and platforms.
- Exceptional business / product stakeholders (distributed locations) management skills to support the business outcomes with your chapters.
- Experience in contributing to organisational knowledge, resources and tools to enable capability build along with a history of making educated data-driven decisions.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to inspire, mentor, and develop chapter leads and members.
