Mō te tūranga - About the role

As the Risk Infrastructure Lead within our Wholesale Lending Origination (WLO) programme, you’ll play a critical role supporting  this enterprise-wide initiative.  WLO is focused on transforming business lending by delivering best‑in‑class products that streamline origination, reduce complexity for bankers, and create a more consistent and seamless experience for our customers.

 

As the NZ Risk Infrastructure Lead for WLO, you’ll help shape the future state of credit and lending processes for Business & Agri. Bringing your deep expertise in risk systems and transformation, you’ll work closely with the programme to automate, simplify, and modernise existing processes—achieving the right balance between strong risk outcomes and an excellent experience for both bankers and customers.

The Risk Infrastructure Lead position is a dynamic and impactful role with a broad range of responsibilities. Some of your day-to-day activities may include the below:

 

  • Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of WLO risk infrastructure, driving transformation across credit and lending processes.
  • Design, build and deploy automated credit risk models and decision strategies using market‑leading platforms.
  • Identify and embed best‑practice, data‑driven risk workflows, focusing on scalable automation and strong controls.
  • Own and govern enterprise risk data assets, ensuring integrity, lineage, documentation and audit‑ready traceability.
  • Proactively identify and manage delivery, credit and non‑financial risks, implementing effective treatment plans.
  • Lead, coach and coordinate a high‑performing team and partners, delivering outcomes at pace without compromising quality.

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Deep expertise in credit risk, wholesale banking and automated credit decisioning within regulated environments.
  • Proven delivery of complex risk or technology transformation programmes, including digitisation of credit processes.
  • Strong technical capability across risk platforms, data integration, model deployment and automated decision strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary, cross‑market teams, including vendors and technology partners.
  • Highly effective in ambiguous environments—shaping clarity, plans and outcomes from incomplete information.
  • Rigorous delivery discipline, with proven strength in requirements definition, solution design, testing, controls and quality assurance.
