Mō te tūranga - About the role
We’re looking for a skilled Software Engineer to help design and deliver scalable, cloud-native CSP services. In this role, you’ll build and maintain high-quality microservices and APIs using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into clean, maintainable code, with a strong focus on resilience, observability, and automation. You’ll also contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment efficiency, and continuous improvement in engineering practices.
The ideal candidate has a solid grasp of event-driven and API-based architectures, strong problem-solving skills, and a collaborative, learning-oriented mindset.

You will be responsible for:
- Collaborate with developers, testers, BAs, designers, and product owners to build impactful solutions.
- Communicate technical ideas clearly and ask thoughtful, timely questions to drive clarity.
- Work in small, agile teams where strong collaboration and relationship-building are essential.
- Embrace a dynamic environment and actively contribute to positive change.
- Take ownership of services end-to-end—building, deploying, monitoring, and supporting what you create.
- Write clean, maintainable code and champion improvements in engineering, automation, and delivery practices.
- Share knowledge, support peers, and foster a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Provide technical guidance and help elevate team capabilities.
Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?
To thrive and excel in this role, you should ideally possess the following:
- Expertise in Java and Spring Boot for microservice development
- Experience with solution architecture, event-driven systems, and API integration
- Strong skills in API testing (unit, integration, TDD/BDD, mocking, stubbing)
- Solid understanding of relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging for production systems
- Experience deploying cloud-native applications on AWS (EKS)
- A collaborative, inclusive mindset with a focus on adaptability, communication, and team success
