Mō te tūranga - About the role

 

As Senior Manager, Governance & Framework, you will play a critical leadership role in strengthening how non‑financial risk is governed, escalated, and integrated into decision‑making across the NZ Division. You will lead the design, uplift and ongoing effectiveness of NFR governance frameworks, ensuring alignment to Group Risk standards, regulatory expectations, and the NZ risk appetite. You will take a leading role in coordination of risk assessment processes and maintain a view of the divisional risk profile and risk appetite.  

 

Working closely with senior business leaders, 1B NFR teams, and Line 2 partners, this role brings together complex risk information to deliver clear, actionable insights.

You will also play a key role in regulatory change, issue and event management, and building a strong, proactive risk culture across the division.

The Senior Manager, Governance & Framework position is a dynamic and impactful role with a broad range of responsibilities. Some of your day-to-day activities may include the below:

 

  • Designing, embedding and continuously improving NFR governance frameworks, forums and decision‑making structures
  • Overseeing divisional risk appetite statements, risk taxonomy alignment, and governance processes
  • Aggregating and synthesising risk, control and assurance insights across business units, COEs and Controls Testing
  • Coordinating risk assessment processes and monitoring material risks at NZ division level against risk appetite
  • Providing high‑quality, decision‑ready insights to senior leadership and governance committees
  • Provide key support to business unit 1B spokes, driving standardisation and supporting workflow.
  • Acting as a trusted Line 1 risk partner to senior leaders, supporting clear ownership and accountability
  • Coaching and uplifting governance and reporting team members, ensuring quality, consistency and capability growth

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Strong experience in non‑financial risk, governance, controls, audit or assurance within a complex organisation
  • Deep understanding of risk governance frameworks, risk appetite, and regulatory expectations
  • Proven ability to aggregate and translate complex risk information into clear executive‑level insights
  • Sound judgement to identify emerging, systemic or out‑of‑appetite risks and drive appropriate escalation
  • Experience leading or coordinating risk assessments, regulatory change or divisional initiatives
  • Confidence engaging and influencing senior stakeholders across business and risk
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly for governance and executive audiences
  • Experience leading team members to improve quality and capability
