As Senior Manager Compliance Risk, you’ll play a critical leadership role within ANZ’s First Line of Defence, partnering closely with business teams to identify, assess and manage conduct and compliance risks across end‑to‑end value chains.

 

You’ll lead high‑quality risk assessments, support regulatory and policy change, and work with stakeholders to design and embed sustainable risk controls into business processes, systems and value chains. With strong customer and compliance risk insight and judgement, you’ll influence governance and decision‑making, strengthen accountability, and help uplift risk capability and culture across the organisation.

 

This is a senior, hands‑on role for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of strategy, regulation and practical delivery.

As Senior Manager Compliance Risk, you will be:

 

  • Leading and overseeing conduct and compliance risk assessments across business processes, systems, data and end‑to‑end value chains
  • Partnering with business teams to design, uplift and embed practical and sustainable risk controls aligned to regulatory and enterprise frameworks
  • Translating conduct and compliance requirements into clear, practical business language and advising on risk‑based decision‑making
  • Supporting regulatory and policy change, including impact assessments and implementation of required changes
  • Reviewing control design and effectiveness, identifying gaps and supporting risk-based improvements, remediation planning and delivery
  • Providing risk insight, analysis and thematic reporting to influence and support governance forums and management decision‑making
  • Leveraging analytics and indicators to identify emerging risks, trends (internal and external) and root causes to strengthen monitoring of risk and control effectiveness
  • Acting as a trusted first line risk partner, strengthening accountability and ownership for conduct and compliance risk
  • Leading, coaching and developing team members, contributing to capability uplift and a strong risk culture across the business

To grow and be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

 

  • Strong knowledge of conduct and compliance risk frameworks, regulatory obligations and risk management methodologies within financial services
  • Experience leading complex risk assessments, control design and effectiveness reviews and risk remediation across complex business environments
  • The ability to interpret regulatory and policy requirements and translate them into practical, business and customer centric embedded solutions
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to generate meaningful risk insights, trends and identify emerging themes
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing senior stakeholders as a trusted first line risk partner
  • Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high‑quality materials for governance and decision-making
  • A pragmatic, risk‑based mindset that balances customer, business and regulatory outcomes
  • Proven leadership capability, with experience coaching others, driving capability uplift and contributing to a positive, inclusive and accountable risk culture
