Mō te tūranga - About the role
The Senior Engineer role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining Marketing Technology, Data, and Analytics platforms to ensure high performance, scalability, and security. You will apply deep technical expertise across DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, and Software Engineering to deliver robust, automated, and reliable solutions.
Working closely with product owners and cross‑functional teams, you will drive platform stability, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement to support strong customer and business outcomes. The role also requires effective communication, proactive problem‑solving, and the ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships to ensure successful delivery.

Role Location: Auckland or Wellington
Work Hours: Standard 37.5 hrs, Monday to Friday

You will be responsible for:
- Designing, building, and maintaining platforms by developing and optimising Marketing Technology, Data & Analytics solutions for performance, scalability, and security.
- Partnering with product and delivery teams to translate business needs into practical technical solutions and deliver high‑quality features.
- Applying Site Reliability Engineering practices to build fault‑tolerant systems, enable proactive monitoring, and maintain platform stability.
- Managing incidents and operational issues to minimise disruption and ensure ongoing reliability.
- Driving automation and efficiency through Infrastructure as Code and continuous improvement of operational processes.
- Setting and upholding technical standards across the team to ensure consistency and quality.
- Engaging and influencing stakeholders through clear communication, alignment on priorities, and collaborative problem‑solving.
- Providing stand‑by/on‑call support during critical periods to ensure timely incident resolution and platform reliability.

To thrive and excel in this role, you should ideally possess the following:
Must‑have knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Clear technical communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate documentation and collaborate effectively across engineering and business teams.
- Strong collaboration experience, partnering with product owners, stakeholders, and engineers to deliver solutions aligned with business goals.
- Cloud and platform engineering expertise within Marketing Technology and Data ecosystems, ensuring secure, scalable, and high‑performing solutions.
- Proven experience working in Agile environments, contributing to iterative development and continuous delivery.
- Hands‑on experience with DevOps and SRE practices, including Infrastructure as Code and automation to build resilient, scalable platforms.
- Operational expertise, with a strong understanding of change, incident, and problem management to maintain system reliability and minimise downtime.
Good‑to‑have knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Scripting and automation skills using tools such as Python, Bash, Terraform, or Helm.
- Data and database experience, including SQL and familiarity with relational and non‑relational databases.
- Experience with modern engineering toolsets, such as Git‑based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms like AWS.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities, with hands‑on experience using observability tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Network and infrastructure troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues effectively.
