As a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Manager in NZ Technology, you’ll play a key role in helping to Connect, Protect and Innovate for our customers, people and community. This role is responsible for leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Investigations across Technology NZ, driving effective remediation that focusses on hard controls and completion of actions, as well as embedding divisional learning across Technology NZ.

What will your day look like?

 

 

The Root Cause Analysis Manager's role is to systematically investigate the root cause of failures within Technology New Zealand, not just the symptoms, and implement actions that provide long-term improvements and permanent fixes. You will identify failures, run RCA sessions, develop RCA Summary reports and provide analysis/insights on divisional themes and learning. This role works closely with engineers, technology managers, risk managers and senior Technology leadership. 

 

As a Root Cause Analysis Manager, you are accountable for:

 

  • Leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Investigations across Technology NZ for incidents, risk events, control ineffectiveness, delivery failure and anywhere else in Technology that RCA is required. You will ensure root causes and material contributing causes are identified, and remediation actions are defined
  • Driving effective remediation, by ensuring actions focus on hard controls, are appropriately prioritised and tracked through to completion
  • Embedding divisional learning by looking at a holistic view of siloed Technology NZ failures, identifying commonalities and 
  • Improving RCA and problem management capability across Technology NZ
  • Strengthening governance by providing oversight, quality assurance, and challenge on RCA use and quality, remediation effectiveness and alignment with Non-Financial Risk (NFR) expectations

 

What will you bring?

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Deep Understanding of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies
  • Knowledge of modern technology estates (applications, infrastructure, cloud, delivery etc) at a sufficient level to distinguish causes and challenge answers
  • Hands-on experience running RCA or assurance work for significant events
  • Strong stakeholder collaborating and influencing skillset
  • High communication skill levels, including an ability to clearly articulate/present complex technical issues to senior stakeholders and governance forums
  • Inherent curiosity about improvements and industry trends in tooling, frameworks, automation and processes
  • Experience embedding organisational learning
  • Background in trend analysis and proactive problem identification
  • Knowledge of Non-Financial Risk (NFR) frameworks and Technology controls
  • Knowledge of Information Technology Security 
  • Passionate about the “Why”, and ANZ Customer satisfaction
  • Competent in the usage of ServiceNow, Confluence, Jira, CoPilot and the MS Office 365 Suite
  • Banking Industry exposure
