Mō te tūranga - About the role


As a Marketing Manager in our Brand and Advertising team, you’ll play a key role in helping to deliver our segment marketing strategy and improve customers’ financial wellbeing. This role is responsible for the planning, implementation and reporting of marketing initiatives in line with the annual marketing plans and broader business strategy. You will lead the development and execution of agreed strategies within your squad, delivering initiatives primarily through owned and paid advertising channels, including digital media and website content, while ensuring all propositions and campaigns create positive and meaningful customer outcomes.

As a Marketing Manager, you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Ensuring marketing strategies and communication initiatives are developed efficiently & effectively, meeting defined objectives, and delivered to the agreed methodology for the brand and advertising discipline  
  • Proposition development – identity and develop propositions that will best address current and emerging customer needs, in conjunction with Senior Marketing Manager and internal stakeholders
  • Customer centric delivery – ensuring campaigns meet customer needs, are communicated compellingly and demonstrate strong use of customer insight 
  • Channel effectiveness – designing strategies based on optimal channel mix across owned and paid media, including authenticated paid advertising, owned and web environments.  
  • High quality output – producing compelling creative and well managed campaigns and programmes that deliver results
  • Continuous improvement – using ‘measure what matters’ and sound test & learn methodology to improve process and optimise campaign performance  
  • Establishing & maintaining positive collaborative working relationships across marketing COE and other business stakeholders 
  • Risk management – ensure all financial, reputational, and operational risks are effectively managed 

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • 5+ years marketing or customer communications experience
  • Demonstrated generalist marketing skills with the ability to implement a broad range of marketing activities 
  • Insight development, an inquisitive mindset and ability to identify and develop insights into initiatives
  • Creative nous – demonstrated understanding of brand building and creative excellence
  • Brand and advertising skills, including creative development and media planning  
  • Digital marketing skills across digital AV, programmatic, SEO, SEM and website content and design
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise work load and capacity to deliver on agreed tasks on time 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build positive collaborative relationships with mid-senior level stakeholders
  • Sound judgement, strong problem solving and analytical and numerical skills. 
  • Excellent attention to detail, and a desire to produce work of a high quality. 

 

‘Good to have’ knowledge, skills and experiences

  • Industry expertise, understanding of core market dynamics and customer insights of the retail banking market
  • Regulatory and compliance knowledge of the banking sector
  • Multi-million-dollar budget management
  • Media and creative agency management experience
  • The ability to engage and empower a diverse range of people/stakeholders.

 

Qualifications:

  • Recognised tertiary qualification in Marketing or Business
  • Specific industry qualifications e.g. NZ Marketing Association Certifications
  • ANZ ‘Marketing Masters’ capability of ‘Proficient’ in core functional areas
  • ANZ ‘Marketing Masters’ Brand Academy workshops – ‘Proposition Development, ‘Creative & Media’
