Mō te tūranga - About the role

 

As Manager, Operational Risk & Resilience, you’ll support effective first line management of operational, resilience and emerging risks across ANZ. Working within the Operational & Resilience Risk Centre of Expertise, you’ll partner with business teams to support risk assessments, embed sustainable controls, and contribute to regulatory and policy change across end‑to‑end value chains.

 

You’ll help provide practical risk insight, support adherence to risk frameworks, and assist in identifying control gaps where improvements are required. The role also provides exposure to model risk, supporting safe and effective use of models, automation and AI in business decision‑making. Acting as a trusted first line risk partner, you’ll contribute to high‑quality risk management and assurance outcomes while building your risk capability and career.

The Manager, Operational Risk & Resilience positions are a dynamic and impactful role with a broad range of responsibilities. Some of your day-to-day activities may include the below:

 

  • Supporting operational and resilience risk assessments across business processes, systems, data and end‑to‑end value chains
  • Assisting business teams to design, uplift and embed practical operational and resilience risk controls
  • Supporting registers and due diligence activities for material service providers
  • Contributing to model risk activities, including supporting advice on model design, validation and safe use of models (such as algorithms, automation and AI)
  • Helping build awareness of risks associated with models that may not operate as intended
  • Supporting controls testing teams with validation activities related to models and controls
  • Coordinating and supporting regulatory and policy change activities, including impact assessments and implementation support
  • Reviewing control design and effectiveness, identifying gaps and supporting remediation actions
  • Preparing risk analysis, insights and materials for governance forums and assurance activities
  • Supporting consolidation of risk themes, insights and emerging issues
  • Partnering with business stakeholders as a trusted first line risk contact, reinforcing ownership and accountability
  • Contributing to capability uplift and continuous improvement across the Operational & Resilience Risk COE

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Foundational knowledge of operational and resilience risk management frameworks and regulatory expectations
  • Experience supporting risk assessments, control reviews, issue management or assurance activities
  • An interest or developing capability in model risk, including understanding risks associated with automation, AI or model‑driven decision making
  • Strong analytical skills, with curiosity to identify risk themes, insights and improvement opportunities
  • The ability to interpret risk and regulatory requirements and help translate them into practical business outcomes
  • Developing stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence working as a first line risk partner
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including contributing to risk papers and governance materials
  • Sound judgement and a pragmatic, risk‑based mindset
  • A willingness to learn, seek feedback and continuously build capability in operational, resilience and model risk
