Mō te tūranga - About the role
As Manager, Financial Crime & Fraud Risk, you’ll play a key role in managing financial crime and fraud risk within ANZ’s First Line of Defence. Working in the Financial Crime & Fraud Risk Centre of Expertise, you’ll partner closely with business teams to assess risks, embed effective controls, and support regulatory and policy change across end‑to‑end value chains.
You’ll provide practical risk insight and advice, influencing decision‑making, ensure adherence to risk and compliance frameworks, and identify control gaps where improvements are required. Acting as a trusted first line risk partner, you’ll help deliver specialist high‑quality risk management and assurance outcomes, build capability, and reinforce a strong financial crime and fraud risk culture.

As Manager, Financial Crime & Fraud Risk, you will be:
- Managing and coordinating financial crime and fraud risk assessments across business processes, systems, data and end‑to‑end value chains
- Partnering with business teams to design, uplift and embed effective financial crime and fraud controls aligned to enterprise and regulatory needs
- Translating financial crime and fraud requirements into practical business advice that balances customer, business and regulatory outcomes
- Supporting regulatory and policy change, including impact assessments and implementation activities
- Reviewing control design and effectiveness, identifying gaps and supporting risk-based improvements, remediation planning and delivery
- Preparing risk analysis, insights and thematic reporting to support governance forums and management decision‑making
- Monitoring risk and control effectiveness using indicators, analytics and emerging trend insights (internal and external) to strengthen monitoring of risk and control effectiveness
- Acting as a trusted first line risk partner, strengthening ownership and accountability for financial crime and fraud risk
- Coaching and developing team members while building financial crime and fraud risk capability across the business

To grow and be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- Strong knowledge of financial crime and fraud risk management frameworks, standards and regulatory obligations
- Experience coordinating complex risk assessments, reviewing control design and effectiveness, and supporting remediation in a financial services environment
- The ability to interpret and translate technical financial crime and fraud requirements into clear, business and customer centric embedded solutions
- Strong judgement and a risk‑based mindset, with the ability to balance customer, business and regulatory outcomes.
- Well‑developed analytical skills, with the ability to identify risk themes, trends and emerging issues
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, operating as a trusted first line risk partner
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills, including preparing materials for governance and decision-making
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement with experience coaching others and driving capability uplift and a strong risk culture
