As a Lead Business Analyst in the Delivery and Change Centre of Excellence (CoE), you will play a pivotal role in enabling the successful delivery of complex change initiatives that support our purpose of shaping a world where people and communities thrive.

 

You will lead end‑to‑end business analysis across projects and programmes of work, partnering closely with business and delivery stakeholders to understand needs, shape solutions, and ensure clear, high‑quality requirements are defined and delivered. This role sits within our Delivery & Change community and provides both hands‑on analysis expertise and leadership to uplift business analysis outcomes.

 

You’ll bring strong thought leadership to your work, helping teams navigate complexity, make informed decisions, and deliver meaningful outcomes. You’ll also contribute to the continuous improvement of ANZ’s Business Analysis practice, supporting consistent standards, capability uplift, and best‑practice ways of working.

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like?

 

Key responsibilities of the role will include the following:

 

  • Provide guidance and support of business analysis activity across a project/programme of work. This includes providing direction to business analysts, assigning and tracking delivery of tasks, peer review of artefacts, and clearing any blockers raised by the BA team / escalating issues as required. 
  • Adopt and adapt Business Analyst methods and tools, ensuring effectiveness throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Establish and manage the business analysis approach, including work estimates, and provide input for the development of the project plan/schedule.
  • Ensure the work of the BAs in the team is to a consistent and high standard.
  • Provide advice, validate requirements with business and project stakeholders, and make recommendations to help meet those requirements.
  • Actively contribute to developing broader business analysis capability and embedding best practice across the Business Analysis discipline within the Delivery and Change CoE, spanning people, process, and tools.

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Deep understanding of banking operations, particularly within regulatory compliance, risk management, and audit contexts.
  • Extensive business analysis expertise across planning, elicitation, requirements management, documentation, and the production of high-quality analysis artefacts, with demonstrated capability as a Lead Business Analyst.
  • Proven experience leading and supporting Business Analysts within a project or programme, maintaining high standards and guiding delivery outcomes.
  • Strong critical thinking, judgement, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through ambiguity, assess options, make recommendations and influence decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering across a range of project types and sizes, including core transformation, regulatory, risk and compliance-focused initiatives, ideally within agile delivery environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders, delivery teams, SMEs, vendors, and geographically dispersed teams.
  • High learning agility, curiosity, and cognitive capability, with the ability to quickly absorb new concepts, understand complex frameworks and determine practical ways forward.
  • A collaborative, adaptable and accountable approach, with a strong sense of ownership and a willingness to roll up your sleeves to deliver high-quality outcomes.
