As a Lead Business Analyst in the Delivery and Change Centre of Excellence (CoE), you’ll play a pivotal role in enabling the successful delivery of complex change initiatives that support our purpose of shaping a world where people and communities thrive.

 

You’ll lead end‑to‑end business analysis across projects and programmes of work, partnering closely with business and delivery stakeholders to understand needs, shape solutions, and ensure clear, high‑quality requirements are defined and delivered. This role sits within our Delivery & Change community and provides both hands‑on analysis expertise and leadership to uplift business analysis outcomes.

 

You’ll bring strong thought leadership to your work, helping teams navigate complexity, make informed decisions, and deliver meaningful outcomes. You’ll also contribute to the continuous improvement of ANZ’s Business Analysis practice, supporting consistent standards, capability uplift, and best‑practice ways of working.

This Lead BA role will initially support a multi-year programme of work in Wholesale Lending and key responsibilities of the role will include the following:

 

  • Lead a team of business analysts, providing guidance and support of business analysis activity across a project/programme of work. This includes providing direction to business analysts, assigning and tracking delivery of tasks, peer review of business analyst artefacts, and clearing any blockers raised by the BA team / escalating issues as required. 
  • Adopt and adapt Business Analyst methods and tools, ensuring effective requirement elicitation is employed and maintained
  • Establish and manage the business analysis approach and work estimates and provide input for the development of the project plan/schedule
  • Ensure the work of the BAs in the team is to a consistent and high standard
  • Provide advice and validate requirements with the business and project stakeholders and make recommendations as required to meet those requirements
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of ANZ’s Business Analyst practice involving people, process and tools

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Must have deep experience and knowledge in Banking (experience in wholesale lending and/or credit decisioning will be highly advantageous).
  • Extensive detailed knowledge of business analysis tasks, planning, elicitation techniques, documentation, presenting and managing requirements and other business analysis artefacts along with demonstrated Lead BA capability.
  • High on curiosity and cognitive ability – need to be able to absorb new concepts and knowledge fast and understand complex models/frameworks to identify the best way forward.
  • Demonstrated experience in working on a number of types and sizes of projects, including core transformations and agile delivery models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, such as developers, architects, product owners, subject matter experts, vendors and senior stakeholders
  • Experience in providing direction and support to a team of Business Analysts within a specific project/program of work
  • Can appreciate difficult problems and work autonomously on tasks with significant complexity, applying critical thinking and thought leadership to the project or programme, and influencing team thinking towards effective analysis and delivery practices.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders or other project teams spread across different locations.
  • Collaborative problem solver i.e. can take a vague problem statement and work with stakeholders to define the problem further, review options and make a recommendation.
  • Must be flexible and have a ‘roll up the sleeves’ attitude to ensure timely completion of the agreed deliverables.
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work.
  • Experience in the financial sector and exposure to Risk and compliance.
