Mō te tūranga - About the role
The Software Engineer designs, builds and optimize scalable end-to-end data solutions to support business intelligence and decision making, including critical regulatory and strategic projects. This role works in a multi-disciplinary squad to source, extract, move and model data, to build data assets and create reporting solutions. This role drives reliability by ensuring all relevant processes and controls are followed.

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like?
This role is accountable for:
- Designing and delivering robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL and Python
- Optimising data platforms for performance, scalability, and efficiency (Airflow, Spark, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Translating business and analytics requirements into effective technical solutions
- Defining and enforcing data governance, security, and regulatory compliance standards
- Driving automation, CI/CD, and DevOps practices to improve reliability and delivery speed
- Contributing to system and application design in line with ANZ technical and business standards
- Developing reusable data assets to enable insights, reporting, and trend analysis
- Ensuring data quality through governance, quality controls, and continuous process improvement
- Acting as support for complex systems and end-to-end data solutions
- Supporting the full development lifecycle from requirements to secure data delivery
- Designing, building, and resolving issues across the Teradata platform, including GCFR and FSDM

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Experience with designing and creating data models.
- Ability to engage with stakeholder to gather user requirements.
- Ability to set clear achievable goals, priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to constructively challenge existing processes and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to consult and influence stakeholders.
- Strong communication, written and presentation skills.
- Proven problem-solving skillset with the ability to work individually as well as within a team environment.
- Proven experience in database platforms such as Teradata, Oracle, MS SQL, SAS
- ETL & Data Warehousing: Deep expertise in AbInitio, Teradata, SQL Server, and modern data warehousing concepts
- Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in Python, Unix Shell scripting, PL/SQL, and orchestration tools like Airflow
- Experience with API’s, containerisation, automation, and CI/CD is highly advantageous.
