Mō te tūranga - About the role


The Infrastructure Engineer plays a key role in designing, building, and enhancing our API Gateways and Eventing Platforms, as well as the supporting tools and services that enable critical business capabilities. This is a dynamic, hands‑on position that offers variety, collaboration, and continuous learning.

In this role, you’ll work closely with the Platform Lead, Product Owner, Lead Engineer, Solution Architects, and other key stakeholders to develop and maintain robust integration platforms. You will help ensure our solutions are scalable, aligned with architectural strategies, and effectively meet evolving business needs. This position also provides opportunities for both personal and professional growth within a supportive and innovative environment.

Role Location: Auckland or Wellington
Role Type: Permanent 
Hours: Standard 37.5 per week with some contributions to a 24/7 roster

You will be responsible for:

  • Engineering and testing enhancements to integration platforms using established patterns, tools, and frameworks—independently handling smaller changes and supporting larger ones.
  • Contributing to or leading requirements‑gathering to ensure solutions are well‑defined and aligned with business needs.
  • Proactively identifying delivery, security, and operational risks and helping implement the right mitigations.
  • Practicing and occasionally leading code management activities such as source control, peer reviews, and CI/CD automation to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Designing and implementing automation for repeatable tasks to improve speed, reliability, and reduce manual effort.
  • Assessing the business impact of changes and outages across API Gateways and Eventing Platforms.
  • Triaging incidents and alerts, performing cross‑platform analysis and troubleshooting to support timely resolution.

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?


To thrive and excel in this role, you should ideally possess the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in integration or platform engineering with a focus on integration platforms.
  • Practical experience with API Gateways and Eventing solutions.
  • A strong understanding of infrastructure fundamentals, including networking, compute, storage, and cloud services.
  • Hands‑on exposure to automation and IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, ARM, or Bicep.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and basic scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Exposure to container technologies like Kubernetes or OpenShift (nice to have).
  • A good grasp of security concepts such as RBAC, identity, and access controls.
  • Ability to work with monitoring and observability tools.
