As Head of Technology, Data and Resilience Risk COE in our Technology, Data and Resilience Risk Centre of Excellence (COE), 1LOD Non‑Financial Risk (NFR) team, you’ll play a key role in the mission to uplift technology, data, information security and cyber risk management capability across the NZ division, ensuring critical services remain available through disruption and that non‑financial risk and regulatory obligations are met.

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? – What will your day look like?
You’ll be accountable for leading the Technology, Data and Resilience Risk COE for NZ’s 1LOD NFR team, driving the practical application of technology, data information security and cyber risk frameworks, policies, and standards across the business. The role exists to strengthen end to end management of technology, data and resilience risks, embed enterprise risk management requirements, and act as the Technology NZ business units primary non financial risk adviser. You will partner closely with Group Risk, Line 2, and business leaders to uplift controls, governance, and risk culture, while overseeing risk assessments, monitoring, and reporting across key technology, data, information security and cyber risk themes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Act as the primary non financial risk reliance point for the Chief Information Officer and Business Unit leadership, providing trusted advice, insight, and constructive challenge on all NFR matters.
- Lead end to end non financial risk management across the Business Unit, including risk in change, events, incidents, issues, and controls.
- Develop and maintain a clear understanding of the Business Unit’s non financial risk profile, proactively assessing how events, incidents, emerging risks, and issues may impact that profile and where uplift or additional risk treatment is required.
- Leading divisional interpretation and application of Group Risk Appetite Statements and technology, data, information security, and cyber risk policies, providing expert guidance on regulatory and risk theme compliance obligations.
- Driving top down risk identification, risk assessments, and integration activities for technology, data and resilience risk themes, including regulatory change and policy updates.
- Establishing and overseeing robust approaches for material service provider management, including due diligence, monitoring, reporting, and orderly exit planning.
- Owning governance, escalation, and stakeholder engagement for technology, data and resilience risks, partnering across divisions to ensure consistent and effective risk management outcomes.
- Championing Line 1 risk accountability and leading a team of specialists to deliver sustained uplift in risk capability and culture.

To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Professional certifications in compliance, risk, or data analytics (highly regarded).
- Deep expertise in technology, data, information security and cyber risk management frameworks, regulatory obligations, controls design and assurance
- Proven experience evolving and embedding risk frameworks in financial services, advising senior leaders and committees, and translating data and insights into practical risk mitigation and uplift initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder influence, strategic thinking, pragmatic decision making, and the ability to lead and develop high performing teams through change and transformation.
