Mō te tūranga - About the role

 

The Delivery Practice Lead is a senior leadership role within the Data & Analytics (D&A) COE, reporting to the Head of Data Office. This is a dynamic and responsive role, focused on delivering a high level of delivery excellence across Data & Analytics’ portfolio of strategic priority change projects.

 

This role is instrumental in developing the delivery performance of the D&A COE. It will work closely with Portfolio Leads, D&A Leadership and leadership of Data Delivery and Enterprise Business Intelligence to remove project delivery blockers, and ensure successful delivery of the data component of projects and data initiatives.

As a Delivery Practice Lead, you are accountable for: 

 

  • Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team of Delivery Leads and practitioners
  • Identify, nurture and retain delivery talent while proactively managing under‑performance
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, simplification and psychological safety
  • Uplift agility, delivery pace and effectiveness across project ways of working
  • Provide hands‑on delivery leadership and specialist advice across data‑enabled projects
  • Partner closely with business and project teams to ensure successful outcomes
  • Track delivery metrics and reporting, intervening early to address risks and issues
  • Seek, provide and encourage constructive feedback and healthy challenge
  • Ensure delivery frameworks, processes and tools are fit‑for‑purpose and consistently applied
  • Champion quality assurance, ensuring deliverables meet standards, regulations and guidelines
  • Manage resourcing to ensure the right skills are aligned to the right initiatives
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, managing benefits, expectations, and delivery risks effectively

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • demonstrated experience in the delivery of medium to large complex projects (10+ years)
  • knowledge of project methodologies, governance frameworks and delivery processes
  • experience working in Agile delivery including use of tools such as Jira
  • experience in leading large teams within dynamic accountability structures
  • commercial acumen, critical thinking and problem solving
  • senior stakeholder relationship management
  • team and individual coaching for performance and wellbeing
  • strong communication skills, including negotiation, influencing and facilitation skills.
  • demonstrates problem-solving approaches that require sound judgement, identifying inter-dependencies, risk and issues.
  • demonstrates autonomy and can operate and make decisions within defined parameters - seeking direction when required.
  • is self-motivated with the ability to adapt quickly and manage multiple competing priorities.
