Ko Mātou – About Us

Kia Hanga I Te Ao, E Ora Ai, E Tupu Ai, Te Tangata Me Te Kainga. At ANZ, we’re shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

Mō te tūranga - About the role

As an Assurance Analyst supporting a large, enterprise‑scale program of work, you'll play a key role in helping to provide program‑level assurance insights through metrics and analysis within the Value Management Office, with a strong focus on delivery metrics, automation, continuous improvement and leveraging AI. You will contribute to deliver confidence assessments by providing objective metrics, traceability evidence, and forward‑looking risk indicators, enabling leaders to make timely, well‑informed decisions rather than relying on retrospective reporting.

Assurance Analysts will come from a variety of backgrounds, bringing expertise in areas such as Transformation programs, to ensure the program achieves its vision for a radically improved lending experience for Business customers and bankers in Australia and New Zealand.

Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.

Role Type: 12 Month Secondment / Fixed Term Contract
Role Location:
Auckland
Work Hours:
Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like?

You’ll spend your time enabling confident decision‑making through metrics‑led assurance, advanced analytics and automation, partnering with delivery teams to surface risks, insights and continuous improvements.

  • Lead metrics‑driven program assurance, defining and maintaining measures across scope, delivery health, risk, dependencies and outcomes, with clear escalation of emerging issues.
  • Deliver data‑driven insights and executive‑ready reporting, analysing delivery and risk data to provide forward‑looking views on confidence, not just current status.
  • Enable automation, AI and modern tooling, supporting VMO‑led initiatives to reduce manual effort and promote consistent, system‑generated assurance.
  • Support governance and controls, providing proportionate, risk‑based assurance, maintaining evidence for forums, and review activities.
  • Partner closely with delivery stakeholders, working with Product, Technology, Testing and Change teams to gather insights and build strong, trusted relationships.
  • Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to uplift metrics maturity, data quality and overall assurance effectiveness as capabilities evolve.

You’ll have the freedom to shape your approach while being supported by a team that values connection and community.

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Strong knowledge of metrics‑led delivery management, including leading and lagging indicators, with the ability to interpret data and provide practical assurance advice.
  • Solid understanding of program and project delivery in complex transformation environments, across both Waterfall and Agile delivery models.
  • Sound knowledge of risk management, governance, controls and assurance, ideally within regulated or highly governed organisations.
  • Highly developed analytical skills, with strong attention to detail and the confidence to interrogate delivery data, identify trends and risks, and constructively challenge using evidence.
  • Experience delivering program or delivery assurance (typically 3–5 years), or working in a closely related role within complex delivery environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with evidence‑based assurance, using system‑generated data rather than anecdotal reporting, with an understanding of data quality and limitations.
  • Capability to produce executive‑ready outputs, translating complex data into clear, concise narratives suited to senior leadership and governance forums.
  • Learning agility and curiosity, with the ability to quickly adopt data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) and emerging automation or AI‑enabled approaches.
  • Experience supporting governance, audits or regulatory reviews, preparing clear, well‑evidenced packs and assurance artefacts.
  • Practical experience using delivery and portfolio tools, such as JIRA, PPM tools, MS Project, and supporting platforms like Confluence, Excel or Qlik.

You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.
