Mō te tūranga - About the role
As Senior Marketing Manager (Squad Lead), Business Owners Segment, you’ll lead the development and agile delivery of marketing strategies that grow our SME, Agri and Commercial business customer base, while lifting customer advocacy (NPS), main bank outcomes (MFI) and consideration.
Working closely with the Head of Brand and Advertising and the Head of Business, you’ll shape what propositions, initiatives and campaigns are required to deliver the segment strategy, and you’ll lead end-to-end delivery to a high standard across creative and media.
You’ll also be a people leader within the Brand and Advertising discipline, responsible for building capability and supporting the growth of your team, while leading a multi-disciplinary squad (including Customer Marketers).

In this role, you will:
- Lead proposition development, identifying and shaping propositions that address current and emerging customer needs
- Own campaign leadership across strategy, communications planning, creative development and media delivery
- Influence senior stakeholders (up to C-suite) to align on priorities, investment, and what we take to market
- Lead and develop a high-performing team through values-led leadership, coaching and capability uplift
- Bring discipline expertise, embedding current and future best practice within Brand and Advertising
- Manage large campaign budgets effectively, ensuring smart investment and strong returns
- Be accountable for marketing effectiveness and business outcomes, including ROI and delivery against objectives
- Ensure all initiatives meet risk, regulatory, and compliance requirements, with strong governance throughout delivery
Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- 8+ years’ experience in marketing, customer strategy, or related experience
- Deep expertise in brand and advertising programmes, including strong creative judgement across AV, visual and written comms
- Proven experience leading teams (people leadership and/or squad leadership), with a focus on capability development
- Strong insight and strategy skills, with an inquisitive mindset and ability to translate insight into action
- Stakeholder leadership and influence, with confidence presenting and gaining buy-in from senior leaders
- Partner and agency management experience, building effective relationships with external marketing partners
- Strong planning, prioritisation and capacity management skills, with a good understanding of agile ways of working
- Budget leadership experience, ideally across large campaign budgets
Nice to have:
- Understanding of market dynamics and customer behaviour in retail and/or business banking
- Media planning and media agency management experience
- Creative agency management experience
