Mō te tūranga - About the role

The Senior Manager role provides strong leadership and coaching to a team of Relationship Managers and Relationship Associates within the Business team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the team to grow, support and enhance the financial wellbeing of a diverse portfolio of existing and new customers.

 

You will be accountable for delivering business objectives aligned to ANZ’s purpose, values and strategic agenda, while embedding a strong conduct and risk culture across the team. You will champion the use of data and insights to build capability, deepen customer understanding and enable better customer outcomes.

 

Role Location: Whangārei

Role Type: Permanent

Hours: Standard, Monday to Friday 37.5 hrs

The Senior Manager, Business is critical to making this happen and key responsibilities of the role will include the following:

 

  • Providing strong leadership, coaching and development support to Relationship staff, fostering a high‑performance culture aligned to ANZ’s values, conduct and risk expectations.
  • Leading and supporting others through change, providing clarity of purpose and direction to successfully embed new ways of working.
  •  Building and maintaining a strong market presence across Northland, acting as a senior representative and the face of ANZ to key Commercial customers, industry participants and professional advisers.
  • Strengthening relationships with customers, professional networks and internal stakeholders to drive collaboration, identify growth opportunities and deliver integrated, value‑adding solutions.
  • Ensuring robust and consistent governance and oversight across the segments and region.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Well‑developed leadership capability, with a proven track record in coaching and developing high‑performing teams, and the ability to lead others confidently through change and evolving ways of working.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting direction and building capability through training, coaching, motivation and effective performance management.
  • Strong stakeholder and customer management skills, with the ability to build networks, influence outcomes and collaborate effectively to add value and drive positive customer outcomes.
  • Strong critical thinker, able to manage competing demands and priorities, exercising sound judgement and decision‑making in complex environments.
  • Confident in analysing and interpreting data and insights, translating complex information into clear, practical and effective solutions.
  • Risk‑aware, with proven experience operating within a well‑managed business environment and a continuous improvement mindset.
  •  Solid understanding of business banking solutions and opportunities, with demonstrated financial analysis and decision‑making capability, and the judgement to balance customer needs, risk appetite and commercial outcomes.
