Mō te tūranga - About the role


The Senior Equities Analyst is responsible for delivering high quality fundamental research across Australasian listed equities, with a focus on a designated Coverage Universe of industries and companies. The role involves generating insightful investment ideas, conducting detailed sector and stock analysis, and clearly communicating findings to the Head of Equities, Fund Managers, and the broader equities team to support informed portfolio decisions.

As a key member of the Investment Management team, the Senior Equities Analyst contributes to overall asset class performance and supports the strategic and operational management of portfolios. This includes participating in investment discussions, integrating research insights into portfolio construction, and ensuring analytical rigor, collaboration, and alignment with the organisation’s investment objectives.

Hours: Standard, Monday to Friday, 37.5hrs

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like


You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting fundamental research on assigned sectors and stocks, including company meetings, Board interactions, broker engagement, and industry visits.
  • Developing valuation models (asset‑based, yield, cash‑flow, comparables) and undertaking SWOT and risk profiling across the investable universe.
  • Generating research insights and presenting recommendations to the investment team.
  • Supporting portfolio construction with sector and security‑specific inputs for all relevant portfolios.
  • Helping Fund Managers drive fund outperformance and supporting client‑facing marketing to retain and grow FUM.
  • Contributing to investment strategy commentary, monthly/quarterly fund reports, and presentations to clients and consultants.
  • Assisting with responsible investing initiatives, including ESG integration and alignment with UNPRI principles.
  • Monitoring mandate compliance and supporting ongoing improvements to portfolio construction processes.

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?


To thrive and excel in this role, you should ideally possess the following:

  • 5+ years of experience reviewing publicly‑traded businesses, ideally within the Australasian equities sector.
  • Strong financial modelling capability and solid understanding of business valuation techniques.
  • Independent critical thinking skills and a strong passion for investing.
  • Ability to communicate research insights clearly to fund managers, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Experience conducting detailed company, industry, and ESG‑related analysis.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field (graduate degree or CFA preferred).
