As a Senior Business Development Manager, you’ll lead a high‑performing team to strengthen our mortgage adviser channel and drive sustainable growth. You’ll set clear direction, elevate relationship management standards, and ensure our mortgage adviser proposition remains competitive and customer‑focused.

As a Senior Business Development Manager you will:

  • Lead and empower a national team of Business Development Managers (BDMs), setting clear expectations, coaching for high performance, and fostering a strong customer‑first culture.
  • Partner with product, customer proposition, and assessment teams to align our adviser strategy with market needs and support ANZ’s 2030 Strategy.
  • Strengthen the adviser channel by improving processes, embedding digital tools, and ensuring BDMs have the support and insights they need to drive meaningful engagement.
  • Champion responsible growth by maintaining a strong focus on risk, compliance, and quality, ensuring decisions deliver the right outcomes for customers and the bank.
  • Build trusted relationships across ANZ and the industry, representing the Mortgage Adviser channel and identifying new business development opportunities.
  • Monitor performance metrics and provide clear insights that help guide priorities, shape strategy, and ensure we are delivering continuous improvement.

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Deep knowledge of New Zealand’s home‑lending market, including customer needs and market trends.
  • Senior commercial or sales leadership experience with a track record of leading high‑performing teams.
  • Ability to drive results through effective coaching, people leadership, and performance management.
  • Proven lending and credit expertise across the full credit lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in the NZ lending environment.
  • A strong customer‑first mindset and ability to embed this in team decision‑making.
  • Solid risk‑management capability across operational, conduct, and compliance areas.
  • Strong analytical skills and confidence using data to guide strategy and performance.
  • Commitment to ethical leadership, diversity, inclusion, and organisational values.
