Mō te tūranga - About the role

As a Retail Lending Specialist within the ANZ Adviser Assessment team, you play a key role in a Centre of Excellence for home lending. Our team leads the market in mortgage volume and is consistently recognised for outstanding service across the industry. Role Location: Tāmaki Makaurau – Auckland (Sylvia Park site)

Role Type: Permanent, Fulltime

Start Date: Monday 6th October, 2025

Date and Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.

As a Retail Lending Specialist, you will have the opportunity to support customers achieve their home ownership dreams. The key responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • Assessment of home lending applications received from Mortgage Advisers, for customers with PAYE income.
  • Provide an exceptional relationship-based service experience for customers and Mortgage Advisers, supporting ANZ’s goals of being #1 in Growth and #1 in Service.
  • Deliver competitive product and pricing strategy that helps retain existing customers and attracts new business to ANZ.
  • Meet home loan settlement goals through strong relationship building, sound judgemental risk assessment of applications and a strong focus on providing market leading financial solutions to our customers.
  • Manage your own workflow and assist your team as required to meet or exceed individual and team goals, through collaboration and proactively managing conflicting priorities.
  • Have a growth mind set and an always learning outlook towards your role, continuously seeking out opportunities to deliver process improvement, operational efficiencies and great customer outcomes.

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Proven experience in home lending, with a solid understanding of New Zealand’s credit controls and lending environment
  • Strong credit judgement and decision-making capabilities
  • The ability to logically analyse financial information in customer applications, with keen attention to detail and confidence under pressure
  • A customer-centric mindset, leveraging risk appetite to balance service excellence with business growth
  • Effective relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate across a diverse range of internal stakeholders at ANZ and external partners in the Mortgage Adviser industry—always championing positive change
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to working both independently and within a team
  • Excellent time management and the ability to perform confidently in a fast-paced environment
