Mō te tūranga - About the role

 

As Manager - Personal Banking NFR , you’ll play a key role in delivering and strengthening the effectiveness of first line non‑financial risk management within ANZ New Zealand’s Personal business. You’ll support the business to identify, manage and monitor non‑financial risks across day‑to‑day operations.

 

You’ll provide practical non-financial risk insight and advice across projects, change initiatives and business-as-usual activities, bringing a clear risk lens to delivery activity. Acting as a trusted first line risk partner, you’ll help the business identify, assess and manage risk through change, support quality outcomes, build capability, and reinforce strong risk culture.

As Manager, NFR Spoke – Personal, you will be:

 

  • Supporting end‑to‑end non‑financial risk management, including risk identification, control effectiveness, governance and reporting
  • Providing risk advisory support across projects, change initiatives and business-as-usual activities, bringing a risk lens to delivery activity while working closely with business and change stakeholders
  • Supporting effective risk--in--change activities and customer outcomes, including risk assessments, control considerations, implementation oversight, lessons learned and practical risk-based advice
  • Supporting top‑down and bottom‑up risk identification across the Personal business
  • Preparing risk analysis, insights and thematic reporting to support governance forums and management decision‑making
  • Reviewing control design and effectiveness, identifying gaps and supporting risk-based improvements, remediation planning and delivery
  • Supporting regulatory and policy change impact assessments and oversight of implementation activities
  • Working closely with specialist risk teams to provide Personal Banking insights that support risk assessments across processes, systems, data and customer journeys
  • Building risk capability across the business by sharing practical advice, guidance and risk insights

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

 

  • Strong knowledge of core non-financial risk concepts, including risk assessment, control design and operating effectiveness, change risk management, event and issue management.
  • Experience in a risk advisory, first line risk, assurance or controls role, with involvement in projects, change initiatives or delivery activity from a risk perspective
  • An understanding of regulatory obligations, licensing requirements and regulatory change management
  • Well‑developed analytical skills, with the ability to identify risk themes, trends and emerging issues
  • The ability to synthesise complex risk information into clear, decision‑ready insights
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, operating as a trusted first line risk partner
  • Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills, including preparing materials for governance and decision-making
  • Strong planning and coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a changing environment
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement, with experience building risk capability and supporting a strong risk culture
