As an Executive Director, Resources, Energy & Infrastructure (REI), you will lead ANZ’s relationships with some of New Zealand’s largest and most strategically important institutional customers. Operating at the forefront of a sector experiencing significant change and investment, you will partner with organisations delivering critical infrastructure, supporting New Zealand's energy transition, and driving the country's long-term economic growth.
This is a senior relationship leadership role, responsible for driving sustainable business growth and deepening ANZ's presence across a portfolio of key REI clients. You will develop trusted executive-level relationships, identify opportunities, provide strategic insight and originate opportunities that deliver value for customers while contributing to ANZ's growth ambitions.
Leveraging deep institutional banking experience and sector expertise, you will connect customers with the full breadth of ANZ's capabilities across corporate finance. markets, sustainable finance and transaction banking. Working collaboratively across the Institutional division, you will identify emerging opportunities, structure complex solutions, and support customers through significant investment, transformation and growth initiatives.
Success in this role requires strong commercial acumen, exceptional relationship management capability, and the ability to navigate complexity while maintaining disciplined portfolio, risk and stakeholder management. As an Executive Director within the NZ Institutional Relationship team, you'll play a leading role in shaping ANZ's relationships with some of New Zealand's most significant Institutional customers. While every day will be different, key responsibilities will include:
- Building and deepening trusted relationships with senior executives, boards and key decision-makers across ANZ's REI portfolio, positioning ANZ as a strategic long-term partner.
- Identifying, originating and executing growth opportunities that support customers' strategic ambitions while delivering sustainable returns for ANZ.
- Leading complex client engagements and transactions, bringing together specialists from across Markets, Transaction Banking, Sustainable Finance and Corporate Finance to deliver integrated, customer-focused solutions.
- Providing sector leadership and market insight, helping customers navigate evolving industry dynamics, investment trends and emerging opportunities.
- Supporting customers through significant strategic events, including infrastructure developments, capital investment programmes, acquisitions, refinancing activity and energy transition initiatives.
- Maintaining a strong focus on portfolio performance through disciplined credit management and governance, ensuring growth opportunities are aligned to ANZ's risk appetite.
- Championing ANZ's sustainability ambitions by partnering with customers on decarbonisation pathways, transition planning and sustainable finance solutions.
- Contributing to a high-performing and collaborative culture by coaching and mentoring colleagues, sharing industry expertise and fostering enterprise-wide connectivity.

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring a combination of strategic relationship leadership, commercial expertise and a strong understanding of New Zealand's institutional banking landscape, including:
- Deep institutional banking and client leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage large, complex customer relationships and delivering sustainable growth across sophisticated portfolios.
- Strong sector expertise within Resources, Energy, Infrastructure or adjacent industries, combined with an understanding of the opportunities and challenges shaping these sectors, including infrastructure investment, energy transition and decarbonisation.
- Proven origination and deal execution capability, with the ability to identify strategic opportunities, structure complex transactions and deliver outcomes that create value for both customers and ANZ.
- Strong commercial judgement and risk management capability, including strong credit acumen and experience balancing growth opportunities with disciplined portfolio, governance and risk outcomes.
- The ability to influence, collaborate and lead across diverse stakeholder environments, building trusted relationships with senior executives and internal partners to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.
- Outstanding communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to navigate complex issues, provide strategic insight and engage effectively with executive-level audiences.
