Mō te tūranga - About the role
As a Director, Financial Institutions Sales within ANZ’s Transaction Banking team, you’ll be responsible for deepening relationships with some of New Zealand’s most significant financial institutions and helping them unlock greater value from ANZ’s market-leading transaction banking capabilities. Working across a diverse portfolio that includes banks, fund managers, insurers, wealth platforms, non-bank lenders and payment providers, you’ll identify opportunities for growth, deliver strategic solutions and connect clients to ANZ’s local, trans-Tasman and regional network.
This is a highly visible role that combines relationship management, sales leadership and industry expertise, offering the opportunity to influence client outcomes, shape strategic conversations and contribute to the continued growth of ANZ’s Institutional business.

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like?
As a Director, Financial Institutions Sales, you'll manage and grow relationships with some of New Zealand's leading Financial Institutions. You'll partner with clients to understand their strategic objectives, identify opportunities to create value and connect them with ANZ's Transaction Banking expertise and solutions.
Some of your day-to-day activities may include:
- Managing and growing a portfolio of strategic Financial Institution clients, identifying new opportunities to deepen relationships and expand ANZ's footprint
- Developing a strong understanding of clients' business strategies and delivering tailored Transaction Banking solutions that support their growth and operational objectives
- Leading sales conversations, originating new business opportunities and executing portfolio growth plans across key client segments
- Partnering with Relationship Managers, Product teams and colleagues across Australia, New Zealand and broader ANZ geographies to deliver seamless client outcomes
- Staying abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies and evolving client needs to identify opportunities for innovation and market differentiation
- Achieving sustainable revenue growth while maintaining a strong focus on risk management, governance and regulatory compliance

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?
To be successful in this role, you'll combine strong relationship management and commercial acumen with a genuine curiosity about the future of banking and payments. You'll be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, navigating complex environments and turning opportunities into tangible outcomes for clients and ANZ. Other key skills include:
- Proven experience working with Financial Institution clients in a sales, relationship management or business development capacity
- Strong knowledge of Transaction Banking products and solutions, including payments, cash management, deposits, connectivity solutions and broader liquidity offerings
- A keen interest in market trends and emerging innovations such as Open Banking, APIs, Real-Time Payments, Digital Assets, AI and the evolving financial services landscape
- The ability to identify opportunities, develop client growth strategies and deliver against commercial objectives
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple teams and priorities
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills, coupled with a proactive and results-focused approach
