About the Role

 

As the Head of Compliance and Money Laundering Risk Officer (MLRO), Samoa, you will be responsible for governance responsibilities of ANZ's Compliance Frameworks (including AML and Economic and Trade Sanctions requirements) through implementation and education across the ANZ Business and Risk areas.  As HoC/MLRO, Samoa, you will provide subject matter expertise and advice to Risk, Business Partners and senior internal and external stakeholders on compliance policies, frameworks, obligations, and adherence.

What will your day look like?

 

As a Compliance and MLRO Officer, you will be accountable for:

 

  • Samoa Licences: Ensure effective capture, management, and monitoring of regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Primary Point of Contact: Provide timely and specialist advice on compliance, financial crime, and policy/framework matters arising from business activities.
  • Compliance and MLRO SME: Participate in key industry groups and internal forums (e.g., committees, projects, workshops).
  • Build Relationships: Establish strong professional relationships with senior business and risk stakeholders across the Country, Division, and Group Compliance/Financial Crime.
  • Manage Compliance: Actively manage and maintain all compliance aspects of ANZ’s non-financial risk management framework, including regulatory interactions, issues, change, and obligations management.
  • Trusted Advisor: Develop and maintain trusted advisor status with external stakeholders and regulatory relationships.
  • Oversee Assessments: Ensure completion of assigned compliance and AML/CTF and Sanctions assessments related to events, changes, and initiatives, aligning with ANZ framework requirements and local regulatory conditions.
  • Support Risk Culture: Provide support and guidance to businesses to embed a sound risk culture and maintain optimal standards.
  • Maintain Knowledge: Keep up-to-date with business, compliance, and sanctions knowledge.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Leadership Team: Member of the Samoa Tautai Leadership team.

  • Oral and written skills – able to explain facts and interact in a range of circumstances.
