About the Role
As a Senior Investigator in our Risk Compliance Tribe, you’ll play a key role in helping to protect ANZ from insider crime. This role is responsible for conducting investigations into allegations of internal fraud, bribery and corruption involving ANZ employees & contractors.
Group Integrity monitor and investigate employee conduct. Investigations are conducted by a team of workplace investigators based in Australia, India, New Zealand and Asia/Pacific. They conduct investigations into allegations of internal fraud, bribery and corruption and criminal/serious misconduct involving ANZ employees and contractors.
As a Senior Investigator, you will lead and conduct investigations into internal theft, fraud and similar serious misconduct involving ANZ employees and contractors. As one of the 2IC in the Australia investigations team, you will conduct workplace investigations which are timely and fair and which make sound findings based on a thorough assessment of the evidence, producing high quality and defensible outcomes for all investigations, including complex matters involving reputational risk and executive conduct matters. You’ll also mentor and help to develop and uplift other members of the team throughout Australia, and globally, using your deep experience and expertise in workplace investigations.
A key component of the role is the provision of insightful risk and control recommendations to close any gaps you identify in your investigations. The highest standard of ethical conduct and role modelling ANZ Values is a pre-requisite for the role.

What will your day look like?
The Senior Investigator is responsible for managing investigations, including complex investigations, into insider crime within the GI service proposition. It is also a key support to the Group Integrity Lead and responsible for proactively mentoring, supporting and developing others in the team.
The Senior Investigator is critical to making this happen and will:
- Lead and conduct investigations into internal theft, fraud, bribery and corruption and similar serious misconduct involving ANZ employees and contractors
- Conduct workplace investigations which are timely and fair and which make sound findings based on a thorough assessment of the evidence, producing high quality and defensible outcomes for all investigations, including complex matters involving reputational risk and executive conduct matters
- Mentor and help to develop and uplift other members of the team throughout Australia, and globally, using your deep experience and expertise in workplace investigations
- Provide insightful risk and control recommendations to close any gaps you identify in your investigations
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
• Highly experienced in workplace investigations with deep expertise in procedural and substantive fairness requirements (Extensive workplace investigations experience including demonstrated understanding of the baseline legal (procedural and substantive fairness) requirements and deep experience in the conduct of those investigations, preferably with experience investigating workplace fraud, theft and insider crime)
• Highly experienced in gathering and assessing evidence including through interviews, using systems to extract and interrogate data, applying the rules of evidence, evaluating conflicting evidence
• Excellent written skills including the ability to produce high quality, reasoned and defensible findings (deep experience workplace investigation reports to produce high quality written analysis (applying the rules of evidence) and fact finding)
• Strong analytical skills coupled with problem solving capability
• Well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of banking operations, instruments & processes, including sales and lending, or demonstrated learning agility
• Legal experience highly regarded
