About the Role
As a Governance Manager in our Home Loans team, you’ll play a key role in helping to support the Senior Governance Manager with processes, governance/ monitoring activities and operational risk management activities. These roles will also support delivery of key business forums, business and management oversight and aggregator compliance. It will focus on the management of governance activities to support the Retail Broker well-managed agenda e.g. complaints analysis and fraud trends, incident management & audit issues \

What will your day look like?
As the Governance Manager, you are accountable for:
• Being the subject expert for broker and aggregator governance, assisting frontline and risk partners across Retail, ensuring the risk processes are effective and appropriately updated
• Drive and execute on all aspects of aggregator compliance activities, including internal annual reviews, actions with industry Aggregator Assurance Program (AAP), keeping up to date with industry changes and requirements.
• Contribute to the uplift within the broker and aggregator accreditation, onboarding, offboarding frameworks, to ensure all processes continue to operate as intended and remain effective.
• Identifying, assessing, treating/mitigating, and monitoring key risks (credit, operational and compliance risk) with an end-to-end governance view, including oversight of broker behaviour.
• Delivery of initiatives on time and against measurable benefits to demonstrate improvements in risk management, controls, with clear consideration of the broker/aggregator consequence management framework
• Managing changes to accreditation & commission systems and processes to ensure they are fit for purpose and operating effectively
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
• Providing governance expertise to support the effective operation of a team, function, project or entity. This includes developing and implementing governance frameworks (including rules, relationships, systems and processes) to assist with the proper exercise and control of authority.
• The ability to identify and assess risks, determine the corrective action required to control or eliminate the risks and effectively manage issues that arise.
• An understanding of the regulatory and government environment, in which we operate in
• The ability to specify and designing controls (e.g., a process, device or practice) to prevent, detect or remediate identified risks.
• Identifying and interpreting applicable laws, rules, codes and standards to create and/or manage policies, processes and procedures, including how these are organised, reviewed and communicated.
• A logical and pragmatic method identify, evaluate, and manage risks in any activity or process to help the organization reduce losses.
• Experience in a risk or governance role
• Ability to effectively manage stakeholders and maintain clear communications
• Knowledge or understanding of the Australian Mortgage Industry would be beneficial
• Team Building: Help to foster and healthy working culture. Enabling and facilitating a safe and supportive work environment
• Planning & Prioritisation: Planning and prioritising what needs to be done inclusive of people, process and technology requirements and implications to deliver
• Business Management: Administering business practices to create the highest level of efficiency possible. Includes coordination of business activities to achieve objectives as well as financial management, resourcing, risk and business continuity.
